Steve Wright, Radio 2 -how much longer can it go on?

Distinct odor of fish coming from the radio!
Tarrant is quite possibly the worst presenter ever put on radio 2, and that's allowing for stiff competition in the form of Jeremy Vine, Dermot O'Leary and Graham Norton. Norton's show was SO much better when Craig Charles stood in for a few weeks.
Craig Charles was good, I agree. Also, don't mind Jonathan Woss when he stands in for SW. Steve Wright really winds me up with his "big show". Why can't he interview anyone live? All his guests are pre recorded with half the questions asked by his lackey and he can stick his "serious jocking" up his arse.
Simon Mayo, on the other hand, is excellent IMO.
This thread made me remember something published in the Letterbocks pages of Viz:
Radio 2's Steve Wright only reads out letters from people who say how much they love him and his show. I know this because me and my mates write to him regularly to tell him we think he's a ct and he never reads our letters out.

Whilst I'm no fan of Steve Wright, all the time Jeremy Vine has a show on R2, that will continue to be my main source irritation. And by irritation, I mean making me want to rip my own ears off.
They should rename that programme to, "fking braindead s, give us a ring right now!"He's far worse than any of the bilge Wright puts out.
I don't mind steve wright at all if I'm honest, proper easy listening in my opinion which is pretty much what I want from my radio. I do like 6 music if I've got DAB available however and like that I hear new stuff on it.
Radio jocks fall into 3 categories;
Think they're funny types
Think they're cool types
Specialist interest types
Wrighty falls into none of those-he's just middle of the road, pleasant chat with middle of the road music. All fairly inoffensive stuff.

particularly with Serious Jockin.
Easily the most annoying radio feature ever, I actually refuse to listen on a Friday because of it. I don't like it any other time but I can tolerate it for 15 minutes at a time, I can't tolerate the stupid fking Friday Jockin bks for even 1 nano second. I'm not a violent person but I'd happily punch SW in the face until I ran out of strength, then I'd go for a sleep and come back and do it all again, but since my fists would be sore I'd use bricks or chairs or large fish to smash his bloody face in.The rest of R2 I have no real issues with, even if Evans does play some terrible music from time to time.
Don't forget.....all one word and NO g....

It is all so lame, and quite frankly execrable, it makes me as a (thankfully seldom) listener feel embarrassed for him.
As my Father in law said,
"Steve Wright just sounds thick".
As others have said, though, most of the other regular Radio 2 presenters are not up to much either. It is true that the stand-ins are often better.
Thankfully I don't have R2 inflicted on me very often.

I have already expressed my disdain for Jeremy Vine a number of times on PH and he does not improve but if you really want dire broadcasters then take a listen to vapid Sarah Cox or self possessed Vanessa Feltz but particularly Anneka Rice.
Unable to go thirty seconds without stumbling over her inane prepared script, she has no place on obscure regional radio, never mind the national network, I find it incredible that she is still on the airwaves.

Cannot stand the Steve Wright show!
It is cringe-inducing stuff, and makes me feel almost embarrassed for him at times.
It is almost like he was left in an out of the way studio back in the late '70's and no one has told him time has moved on and the button to fade him down has broken off the mixing desk.

I cant beleive the highlight of my week was hoofing down the M6, Friday afternoon in my Capri 2.8i with this on radio one.
Was it any good then? or does memory play tricks?
I cant listen to Radio two at all, Chris Evans is intensely annoying, Steve Wright is utterly st, and Jeremy Vine...well..
Utter utter crap station full of dross D.J's .

Audiences would seem to disagree, the station overall is incredibly popular.
I'm supposed to be in Radio 1's "demographic" (I'm 23) but I can't stand it. Kids' stuff.
Radio 2 basically caters for the elderly and that is a very large group.I'm supposed to be in Radio 1's "demographic" (I'm 23) but I can't stand it. Kids' stuff.
I'm in my late 30s and think R2 is fairly awful. Jonathan Ross on a Saturday was good at times and Radcliffe & Maconie were good when they were on in the evenings.
