That's what the internet is for - commenting and judging on something you know nothing about.
Thinking about it some more; Sally traffic has never done Bruce's show. Oddly enough I hate the traffic news more than anything else on R2, I wish they'd scrap that.
Scrap it? It's the only reason I have the radio on. It's a national radio station so does traffic news for the whole country where as local stations only do local traffic which is no good for someone like me.

I don't want any of these so called entertainers, music & traffic is all I want.
I have the radio on at work and live about 3 miles away, I personally have no need for the traffic news nor ever have. It's just the same every day: There is an accident on the M62, the M25 is slow around junctions xx, the M6 slow southbound/Northbound in area X. Even if the motorway is slow, i'll still have to go and sit on it as to try and go around is either impossible or takes twice as long anyhow. I've always thought there should be two channels, one with traffic news and one without.
I even know exactly when the TN is on - 20 past the hour and 5 minutes to!

The traffic news used to be priceless, but progress has rather reduced its value...

Just said that "Werewolves Of London" by Warren Zevon was written especially for "that film". If he means An American Werewolf In London, Zevon actually turned down John Landis permission to use the song. rolleyes

An American Werewolf In London?

Jenny Agutter?

errr... excuse me a minute... getmecoat

So Zevon wrote a song in 1978 for a film that came out in 1981? Yes Steve, well done. Or maybe he thinks he wrote it for the 1935 film Werewolf of London?

Traffic news is rather dull. What % of people doesn't have a ShartPhone to look at these days.
There must be a very small number of peeps that need nationwide travel news.
Not everyone is glued to their phones all day. My phone (and I'd guess most people's) has a million and one features, apps and devices that I never use.

The travel news has helped me avoid delays several times, it's the best thing about R2 imo. Although I'm sick of the sound of the word 'Churtsey'.

To be honest, if you are looking at a smart phone whilst driving, there is a strong possibility that the accident you cause will be the source of the next traffic hold up.

I don't have a smart phone and I don't intend to have one anytime soon. They are not compulsory.

^^This.

I don't want to be looking at a phone while driving along & would hope other people don't either.

It is just filler. The country has 10,000s of miles of roads. What criteria do they use to choose which traffic news they announce?

Main arterial and Motorways. I wish they'd ditch it. If i'm near the radio I switch it off or over to something else.
There is an accident everyday of the week on the M62 near me, it's not news, people fully expect to get caught up in it to and from work.

^^This^^

I used to travel from Norwich to South Wales and back on a Monday & Friday.

M11 = Accidents & Delays
A14 or M25 = Accidents & Delays
M4 = Accidents & Delays

No real alternate routes unless you wanted to take about 4 days on A & B roads.

I have to say though, I'm always amazed at the amount of people who cannot navigate decent roads in a relatively straight line in nice weather without making a massive lash up of it.

They're probably all listening to "Steve Wright in the Afternoon" and losing control of their faculties as they rant and rave at the radio.
