Can't stand Steve Wright anymore, and there was a time in the Eighties when I really though he was funny, did some great shows.

However mostly it is the music that drives me mental. Just the worst of the 70's disco hits on an endless repeat. Heck, I used to like Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, but now it doesn't want me want to come and make me smile, more like commit multiple homicide.

Ipod all the way in the afternoons.

Cringe inducing middle of the road crap, with terrible links, awful sycophantic presser "interviews" and horrific music.

Dermot O'leary is a Ledge compared to this ear vomit.

It will go on till either he falls through the floor or dies of a heart attack.
Loved the serious troughing quote!

Its the whole group of them that grate on me and the back slapping crap they spout every show.
I listened to Wrighty back in the day, his humour worked then but not so now.
Isnt the guy pretty much a recluse? I wonder what he would do with himself if he did get replaced, whats left for him after R2? Its the equivalent of DJ retirement home, like a version of Eastbourne - they go there to retire and die but along the way forget why they went there....

Bruce is probably one of the better presenters/DJ's and as said, Popmaster is still good, no silly acts, poor jokes and puns aimed at himself but usually listenable.

Vine - Antagonising, patronising git. Says whatever will get the biggest response from whoever is being interviewed.

Mayo is ok, though the guy that does the cooking spot really gets on my nerves. Not sure why but he has one of those voices that makes me turn the radio off.

Evans - his Friday morning shows are good, there have been some superb live performances and IMO they should do it like that every day.

Slightly off topic, but why does R2 insist on having a bloody god-squad spot on every morning?
I want to listen to music or something topical or funny, not preached at by someone about something many have no interest in whatsoever.

The problem I'm finding is that Radio two hasn't changed its demographic for decades. They still play 50's and 60's stuff and I have no real interest unless they're real classics. They've been playing the same stuff since the 80's. I'm too old for Radio one but I feel too young for Radio two. I think what I need is a radio 1.5.

Exactly. Theyre still playing that bloody "Sounds of the 60's" with whats his face that could be a 20 year old recording for all we know! Im closer to 50 than 40 and its too old for me!

I know its a personal taste thing, but.......

Dermot O'Leary: Referred to in this household as Dreary O'Leary. Crap chat and crap music. Even Radio 1 is better on a Saturday afternoon

Jonathan Ross: A person who continually pokes fun at others but cannot see the funny side when fun is poked back at him. Not a nice person and not funny at all. Didn't he start as an alternative comedian? as in alternative meaning not being funny.

This whole age thing is interesting. It appears that some are implying that when you get to a certain age you should not be catered for by any radio station. What age would that be? 40?, 50?, 60?. Well, I'm 55 and find in general the music played on Radio 2 has a very broad spectrum and caters for a wide variety of ages. Certainly there are no other stations that cater for my tastes as well as radio 2 does. I would far rather listen to the twaddle spouted by ANY radio 2 DJ than have five minute of adverts between each record. A couple of weeks ago on the way home from work Simon Mayo had some boring person on the phone talking about curry. No interest to me so I tried Absolute Radio. My God, I drove from Uttoxeter to Cheadle (7 miles of speed restricted roads) during the duration of one advert break. Do these stations actually play any music?

I should imagine it's because many of the listeners are feeling quite close to him.

I agree. Dermot is boring as well as sycophantic to his guests. That's what comes from having no talent of his own.
I used to like Ross but now he doesn't know his Rs from his elbow. I think he has reached that point of crisis in his too old to rock'n'roll but young enough to die career.
On another R1 point, why are they pushing the grindingly tedious Tit Grimshaw on every front. He's a tt.

Great, what FM frequency is that on?

He's known as Dermot O'Dreary in our house.

Much of Radio 2 seems to be for the easily pleased and unquestioning older folk of Middle England (like the Daily Mail or Express). You won't learn much or be stimulated by listening to it. Even so, I can't believe that Steve Wright can ever get a good annual appraisal
"Hate the show, Steve and your bored Posse".

Is "The Organist Entertains" still going? Aimed at Centenarians who look fondly back to the days of silent movies and Music Hall presumably....

Radio 4, with the notable exceptions of The (tedious, melodramatic and hammily acted) Archers and Thought For The Day, is absolutely excellent.

6Music in the daytime is great, with some fairly niche stuff at other times.

The above 2 stations can keep you going whilst out on the road ...if you have DAB.

Jack FM has a play list of around 2500 songs...way more than any other station. The likes of Heart are running at less than 100. Even though, it does get a bit samey after a while.

ONE week in my garage told me that, I nearly threw the radio out of the door in the end.

Sadly it isn't.

It is, however, readily available on DAB radio ( I use a Pure Highway in the car), The Internet, satellite/cable tv and Freeview. Somebody with normal intelligence who wants to listen to it could probably access it.

I agree, there's some great variation in music played on his show. I've discovered loads of music by hearing it on there first. What's the alternative to Radio 2? All the other radio stations play black people talking over a drum beat half the time.

I find Wright really irritating these days. Have to turn off.

I also find it difficult to listen to Vine. I did catch a bit when in the kitchen a couple of weeks ago when the Lib Dems were going to ban idling vehicles and consequently ice cream vans. He asked Ice Cream Man if he was worried - "Nah they ain't ever going to be able to do anything about it"... turned into our Ice Cream Man is really worried.... Daily Mail of the radio.
