Loving the series, and bought are you tough enough on dvd recently to rewatch and compare to this.
Can anyone recommend any decent special forces books? going on holiday soon so will come in handy for the plane
For me a few good ones were Lofty Large's 'Soldier Against The Odds' and 'Bush War Operator' by Andrew Balaam, both SF but old school, Lofty in particular set a tone which pervades to this day, Andy describes things which make the TV series (excellent though it is) seem a bit soft; both are wonderfully understated. Can anyone recommend any decent special forces books? going on holiday soon so will come in handy for the plane

I'm incredibly privileged to know a couple of the guys who rescued Colin in Basra (by driving a tank through a wall). Absolutely top, humble blokes who have had life experiences I couldn't even get close to imagining. callmedave said:

I'm confused about the term "The Beard" for Ant.
Do we mean "a woman who accompanies a homosexual man as an escort to a social occasion, in order to help conceal his homosexuality"?
They all have beards don't they?

Say that to his face, I dare you! Do we mean "a woman who accompanies a homosexual man as an escort to a social occasion, in order to help conceal his homosexuality"?

Is it just a reference to his beard? As simple as that?

Enjoyed it again tonight, think they got Stratham back in so they can beast him during the interrogation phase.
Re the SBS - SAS bit touched on before on the thread. I note 3 of the 4 main instructors are ex SBS, aka the boys from Poole, they will be pleased the show title is 'SAS' as I read they always welcomed the SAS taking the spotlight and hence the press away from them. When I was working in Portland a couple of winters ago I saw them playing with their minisub, amongst other things, almost something out of a Bond movie.

Why did they decide to cut that young guy who carried that heavy dude on the run? Doesn't make sense how was he the weakest at that stage?
Wasn't he also the guy who escaped from the room when they were tied up and left?
They've given at least two others second chances now but tinned him
Disappointed with that really
Enjoyable episode again and felt for the youngster, who got dropped. I'm wondering if his age was a concern, with regard to the mental interrogation stuff they'll be going through next week? He certainly seemed physically able.
They were right to pull the guy with Cellulitis. I was seriously ill with it myself a couple of months ago and without IV antibiotics Sepsis can develop. The antibiotics themselves (Teicoplanin in my case) can literally floor you, so it's unlikely he could have completed the task anyway.
Statham's old attitude seemed to come back again. It'll be interesting to see how much stick he gets from them?
Looking forward to next week.

Thought the same at first but possibly something else outside of filming? Some psychological issue that wouldn't make great telly maybe?Wasn't he also the guy who escaped from the room when they were tied up and left?

Really enjoying the programme though. Always wanted to have a go at the evade and be hunted bit just because it's like a massive, grown up version of a wide game. Wouldn't fancy the rest of it very much though!
I really think getting completely lost is quite a fundamental fk up. You really don't want to be doing that in enemy territory I wouldn't have thought?
Really pissed off they virtually begged statham to come back. Could understand it if it was just that physically he was struggling, but they liked his attitude (which they had already done with the young lad), but throughout the Evade exercise he was just moaning and saying "we're dead" and if i was his partner i'd have lost my rag. Compare with the other group (of 3) who stuck together and kept the dancer going when he was flagging.
Makes it even more of a shame that they ditched the young lad.
Currently rooting for the MMA guy. Hes quiet, but seems a nice guy that thinks about others before himself.
