Dear F,
watched this. Mrs Noise more enthusiastic than I.
The plot was fair but my disbelief suspension was severely impaired by what I perceive as right-on box ticking. Multi-racial - check. Multi-gender check. Inclusive - check. Is there really any nick in the country (even including Brighton) that has such a low proportion of straight white, nominally C of E, males?
Is the program reflecting reality or some BBC-rose-scented multi-ethno-cultural-orientation nirvana? /controversy. Lot of rain overnight,
regards,
Jet

I enjoyed it, but live near Brighton, so part of it was spotting familiar places.
I don't see why people are bothered if it hasn't got as many straight white characters as other dramas. IIRC for the main characters they had 2 black guys, one/two gay chaps depending on the storylines a muslim, and 5 straight(?) white characters.

They were lucky to find that body under the pier before nightfall - late evening by the looks of the sun. Funny how no-one spotted him all day - under the pier.
No wonder plod is struggling when the training cop is a well known drug/gang boss from Norf Lundahn.
And just how did they lose sight of the crims in the car chase?
All these and more will be answered in the next installment...

Gave up halfway through. Poor characters, bad acting, cliched first episode with story of new cop isn't liked by experienced cop. New cop saves experienced cop, and then they become pals. How many times has that scenario been used over the years in different cop shows and films.
It was a bit like Hollyoaks meets Casualty but with a police theme. Too unfunny to be a comedy, too light to be a proper drama. Made The Bill look like The Sweeney!
Not a patch on the current crime shows like River and Unforgotten.

I'm glad other found it utterly awful as well, was surprised at the reception being mostly positive on Twitter.
The slow-motion of the 4x4 hitting the kerb made me laugh. Was very much reminded of Garth Marenghi's Dark Place using slow motion to fill out episodes that are running under time!

Bang to rights murder charge - the old biddy definitely enticed those scallywags by offering jewels and other inducements to visit her abode after hours, then laid in wait with murderous intent.
She'll get off once she 'comes out' as a post-op pre-gendered non-cis bi-senile alzheimer/cjd survivor.
This series doesn't do nuance very well.

I watched all the episodes so far back to back.
It's a decent cop drama with pace and it is beautifully made.
Love the titles and the old school intro before them. I like too the action sequence filming with some very personal jerky footage in the cars - very police interceptors. Ariel shots work but I wonder as quad copters become the norm if this will soon become a very over used technique.
I like the way you see every character in their personal life in a different context. Sometimes no need for dialogue. Showing their problems fears and faults which then come through when they are in uniform.
However.
Surely there can't be any more boxes to tick. You could imagine the producers preparing the pitch and just piling on the minorities so that the commissioning editor had no choice but to say yes.
Gay cop whose mum has cancer.
Black cop. Single Dad with aged mum.
Lesbian cop who likes a spliff.
Straight single dating cop who is fat.
Single woman cop who has a dog and who is knobbing the boss. (Her not the dog.)
Boss cop who has gay son unwell wife and mistress.
Boss detective who likes S and M and who like the other cop has an aged relative.
Muslim woman cop.
Even the road accident victim was a trans-gender.
Asylum seeker.
Beaten pregnant drinking woman who goes back to violent partner.
Did I leave any boxes unticked?
And the Ford Focus patrol car sounded rather nice in one episode. I guess that was dubbed? Would the boss S and M detective really have such a nice Beemer?
