So then, the people who find Steve Coogan/Alan Partridge hilarious... were you chuckling with delight/guffawing whilst watching TFI this week.
Was there anything particular in Partridge's delivery that made you think 'He's just fking brilliant at this comedy lark is old Coogan'
Which bit was that ?
You'll have to give me a minute while I read through my notes but I do remember laughing out loud on more than a couple of occasions. Was there anything particular in Partridge's delivery that made you think 'He's just fking brilliant at this comedy lark is old Coogan'

I thought Elle king was terrific.
Yep, never heard of her until I saw her on here. Cracking voice. Nathaniel Rateliff, another great artist I hadn't heard of until the TFI performance. I thought Elle king was terrific.
"King Elle, it's Elle King"

I don't see why he should have to justify enjoying something that you didn't.Was there anything particular in Partridge's delivery that made you think 'He's just fking brilliant at this comedy lark is old Coogan'

Do you have to know the reason why you like everything you do? Or do you have to break everything down and analyze it?Was there anything particular in Partridge's delivery that made you think 'He's just fking brilliant at this comedy lark is old Coogan'

I just get on with it, watched it and laughed.

I chuckled at the bit where he opened the drawer for the first time and snow shot out, he said something like "Look at that! It's a drawer that blows snow everywhere!... [lowers tone] What a complete waste of money"Was there anything particular in Partridge's delivery that made you think 'He's just fking brilliant at this comedy lark is old Coogan'

Second time he did it "Looks like a snowman being fed into a wood chipper."
The comedy is in the juxtaposition with the general vibe of the show - extremely energetic, upbeat and hair brained. Partridge as the presenter should be on board with it, but he can't control his innate cynicism and is completely obvlivious to how his comments come across - something completely at odds with his position.
This is a general theme with him - cynical/downbeat comments that are completely out of place with his role as a light entertainment presenter.
Like a comedy sketch featuring the Queen telling someone to Fck off.

I would imagine that knowing Alan partridge's back story helps to appreciate the character he portrays today. From sports reported to failed chat show host, to obscure late night radio host, there's a whole lot of bitterness simmering below the surface which occasionally bubbles up at inopportune moments.
I suppose if you were new to the character it might be a little difficult to work out what's going on.

I think there's some truth in that.I suppose if you were new to the character it might be a little difficult to work out what's going on.
Regardless, I still think he's a genuiningly funny character.
I still chuckle thinking about 'Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan!" line.
Top 10 quotes, although there's no "Lynn, they're sex people" or "dirty protest" in there.

What I particularly like about AP is how his career has developed over the years in a totally believable way. What he us doing now is exactly what he would be doing if he was a real person.
His "autobiography ", I Partridge, is a very funny read and totslly believable.p
You have to get this book in audio form with AP doing the reading, I have listened to it 3 times now and it still cracks me up.His "autobiography ", I Partridge, is a very funny read and totslly believable.p
