You have to get this book in audio form with AP doing the reading, I have listened to it 3 times now and it still cracks me up.

I would imagine that knowing Alan partridge's back story helps to appreciate the character he portrays today. From sports reported to failed chat show host, to obscure late night radio host, there's a whole lot of bitterness simmering below the surface which occasionally bubbles up at inopportune moments.

I suppose if you were new to the character it might be a little difficult to work out what's going on.
100% agree. If you don't know or like AP then I can imagine last weeks TFI was pretty annoying. For those that do, it was very good.

For me, Alan Partridge is very similar to David Brent - both are characters I find very funny/sad and both are played by actors I don't really like.

I'd like to throw Alan Partridge into the hat for an occasional presenter on the new Top Gear - not Steve Coogan, but Alan Partridge.

I've been enjoying the show, but I'm totally fed up with his kids coming on the whole time. Really is no need for it and a bit nauseating to be honest.

Didn't bother me at the time but now I think about it...

He really pushes his kids - quite a few of the jingles on his radio are his kids speaking.

I wonder if it's a tax dodge or him just trying to squeeze every penny out of his various employers by "employing" his kids to do a lot of the links instead of third parties?

I quite enjoyed it. First thing this year that has made me feel christmassy. Alan Partridge was on form, much more like the AP of old.
I've always liked Alan Partridge but, and far from being 'on form', I think the only way I can describe his performance was that Steve Coogan had 'forgotten' how to do Alan Partridge.

The voice was wrong, the mannerisms weak; it was Steve Coogan doing an impression of Partridge rather than 'being him'.

I still they missed a trick a few weeks ago. They've got Ronnie Wood on, him and Chris are throwing paint around the place, firing it from guns and so on. They've got Jamie Lawson on, performing his depressing song "I wasn't expecting that". Writes itself.

I'm sure there are loads of proud parent tv presenters, but you don't see them shoving their kids on every chance they get.

I don't watch TFI to see kids - it wasn't like that back in the day and it shouldn't be like that now. If I want that, I'll get a box set of the Waltons smile

There really is no excuse for his kids.

I think when Evans gets involved in a show, he just does whatever he wants, and everyone else has to go along with it. Absolute control. I fear for Top Gear.

He goes way beyond being a proud dad, IMO. Of course, he also didn't make £80m by just being a talking head on a TV show and a radio show - he's a very shrewd businessman (when he wasn't drunk/high).

Crikey, could you ever imagine that, a single minded chap whose mantra is my way or the highway in charge of presenting Top Gear?

I've heard Evans has big ego for the last 20 years, never heard the same about Clarkson. People seem to saying all TV
presenters are the same to defend Evans.

It's telling that none of Evans's TV shows have lasted much more than a couple of years.

Does he need an excuse? Don't really see the issue, I don't see the point either but it doesn't bother me at all.
