That clip of the funeral procession at the end of American Sniper ..
^^^ this, plus the scenes from the same film of the boy with his mother and the boy with the RPG
I watched American Sniper at the weekend. I'll put the rest in spoiler tags

I only knew the rough outline of the story, that it was about a sniper who had the most kills. I didn't know he was dead.

Spent most of the film not exactly liking the character, just at the end it seems like he has dealt with his demons and his life is on track and then it fades to black and says he is dead. Then cuts to the funeral procession.

I'm not ashamed to says I cried. Not cried at a film for quite some time

Pacino's speech from Any Given Sunday - a snippet below:

On this team, we fight for that inch
On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us
to pieces for that inch.
We CLAW with our finger nails for that inch.
Cause we know
when we add up all those inches
that's going to make the fking difference
between WINNING and LOSING
between LIVING and DYING.

I'll tell you this
in any fight
it is the guy who is willing to die
who is going to win that inch.
And I know
if I am going to have any life anymore
it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that inch
because that is what LIVING is.
The six inches in front of your face.

Now I can't make you do it.
You gotta look at the guy next to you.
Look into his eyes.
Now I think you are going to see a guy who will go that inch with you.
You are going to see a guy
who will sacrifice himself for this team
because he knows when it comes down to it,
you are gonna do the same thing for him.

+1. Portman deserved an Oscar just for that scene alone. It was criminal, that she was over looked that year.

Ferris & Co in the gallery.

The end of The Usual Suspects.

The start of Apocalypse Now.

The end of Starman.

The footage of Ayrton in the pits at Imola from Senna. Following on from Ratzenbergers crash, you just watch him and think "please let someone take away the keys, he's too shaken, he knows he shouldn't be doing this, someone take away the keys,"
And of course, no one did.

Bill Pullman's pep-talk / speech to the air base crowd in Independence Day - Really stirring moment in a cheesy gung-ho film.

We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!
Really? The first time I saw the film I was laughing at this bit so much. 'Murica with extra cheese! hehe

Anyway, after watching the series of Torchwood with Bill Pullman as the creepy murderer paedophile, Bill Pullman the American President is just weird.

I know I have mentioned this in other film threads on here, but...the start of the race in Le Mans.

Other films have tried to capture the atmosphere and tension of a motor race, but nothing has ever or will ever do so so perfectly.

Dave, I don't feel tension watching the start of a race unless they play Mouldy Old Dough over the PA on the warm up lap!

I think the whole film and particularly that speech is hateful, the whole subtext is that the world is better because America, we will be saved because America, everyone wants to be American. It's the most chest-beatingly 'merican thing I've ever seen.

I've heard quite a few people say this and yes while it is incredibly cheesy, I just see it as a fun film about Will Smith fighting aliens. The city destruction scenes especially were absolutely jaw dropping at the time. I guess people see what they want to see though.

Couldn't agree more. I think I was 14 or 15 when my parents took me to see this movie and I remember being excited for at least a week waiting to watch it.

However, I'm sure some people are so cool and amazing that the films they choose to watch should consider themselves lucky to have been viewed...

TV again but it is from Johnathan Nolan so it manages to be four minutes of awesome cinematic story telling without a single word being spoken and Johnny Cash;

Great film. I think it's a shame that younger generations have grown up with all of the cliche's that came from Aliens, the impact that film made when I first saw it was huge! If I ever have kids, I'll need a list to make sure they see films in the right order.

I'm a big rocky fan, but the bits that really made me hold my breath were the parts showing how crap life was for everyone. Rocky's crap house and his rant at mickey about how he's going to be flattened:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhwERykawlc

And Paulie- Burt Young absolutely nails the bitter, beaten angry impotent man who takes blames the world for his own weaknesses. Total scumbag. The bit when he's going nuts at Adrian & throws the turkey out was the hardest part of the film for me to watch, but I can't find a clip.
