I know its not a film, but the end of the West Wing Episode Two Cathedrals, with Dire Straights Brother's in Arms playing over the top.

Great scene but I prefer the more subtle "Let's go for coffee scene". Skirting around each other for most of the first part of the movie and then....two of my favourite actors sat in a coffee shop, shooting the breeze, talking about the life, mutual respect etc and then the "if you get in my way, I'll take you down" bit. Great dialogue, great tension and you get to see two great masters at the top of their game. I kept looking around thinking at others thinking is everyone seeing what I'm seeing cos this is so f*ckin cool".

Another is the scene in Superman 2. Clarke AWOL, Zod and Co have been having a whale of a time roughing up the Daily Planet staff and Superman's girl and things are looking grim. Then slowly the classic riff starts to play and you see newspapers being ruffled by wind, slowly the music builds up as people look up then full on classic music fanfare as Superman flies up to the window and calmly states "General, would you care to step outside?". GOOSEBUMPS! Such a shame that great line was replaced in later cuts.

That scene is very good, the director told Joe to go off on one, but no one else was told, their reactions are real.

So many - not sure just how tragic they make me though....So trying to pin it down a little..

1. Sixth Sense. You know what I am talking about...

2. Star Wars Ep 4 - the opening when the ship goes past followed by the Star Destroyer which engulfs it.

Great shout. "Watch this..." and Bartlet puts his hands in his pockets.

Also from West Wing, the Leviticus speech "When I stand, nobody sits" (or something like that but it is truly superb).

As for movies, well:

Armageddon "It's what we call a global killer sir"

Wall Street - Gekko walking the seashore "I'm gonna make you rich Bud Fox" :-)

Contact - When Jodie Foster first hears the signal from Vega

U561 - "If you don't sink that boat, you must ensure that none of us survive to be captured"

Can anyone explain why? I understand his character is a bit of a psycho, but this scene makes him just seem like a bit of a dick to me.

Gumball Rally:

Just after they all set off (except the Jag) in NY centre early doors there's a scene where a lone chap looks up as he hears the sound of the cars echoing around the concrete canyons. No cars in sight yet one of the best car movie moments.

Another vote for Heat though for me it's Pacino homing in on De Niro to the soundtrack of Moby's (cover of) New Dawn Fades. Epic.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Enough bits in this to sprain your goosepimples but the final shootout in the cemetery is peerless. In a similar vein Charles Bronson vs Henry Fonda in Once Upon a Time in The West.

Ennio Morricone bow
