The section in the pre-title part of "Tomorrow Never Dies" where the missile is heading over the terrain. The combination of the cuts from the missile view, the destination and the music - especially how the music ties in - is what makes it my favourite Bond PTS. Rest of film is a bit disappointing after that.
Totally agree - what i love is the exciting action has started before Bond has even appeared on screen. And the way he appears is solid gold - a gloved hand offering a light to a mercenary, followed by a sucker-punch, and then Brosnan grinning and saying (if i remember correctly) "Filthy habit". Brilliant.
Just dont watch it on TV - last time it aired they cut out the garroting scene in the plane, which made the subsequent ejection and "back-seat driver" quip completely illogical.

Another vote for Heat though for me it's Pacino homing in on De Niro to the soundtrack of Moby's (cover of) New Dawn Fades. Epic.
Definitely, the diner scene was also the first time they appeared on screen together in any film.

Another for me is the final scene in Last of the Mohicans, the soundtrack etc. brilliant.

Great scene but I prefer the more subtle "Let's go for coffee scene". Skirting around each other for most of the first part of the movie and then....two of my favourite actors sat in a coffee shop, shooting the breeze, talking about the life, mutual respect etc and then the "if you get in my way, I'll take you down" bit. Great dialogue, great tension and you get to see two great masters at the top of their game. I kept looking around thinking at others thinking is everyone seeing what I'm seeing cos this is so f*ckin cool".
Heat was a remake or Mann's previous film, "LA Takedown". Its a pretty low-budget, made-for-TV affair, but i think that scene was handled better. Rather than Pacino pulling him over out on the highway and suggesting they have a chat, in Takedown one is returning to his car and one getting out of his car, in a parking lot, just by chance - theres a pause as they make eye contact, realise who each other is, and both reach for their guns, and theres a stand-off for a few seconds before they agree to talk (all this oblivious to shoppers walking by). Just think it was a better set-up.

Yes, makes more sense, but...Moby New Dawn Fades...fast car and helicopter before the meeting is also a hair standing on end moment!

I remember them doing that, but I didn't see the rest of the film to see if they'd cut anything else out.

- Jurassic Park: the jeep coming over the hill with the camera panning back to show the dinosaurs in all their glory for the first time.

- 'Chewie, we're home' from the Force Awakens trailer.

...and a one-off, I'm sure, but watching Coherence last night (excellent film, by the way), the scene where the main character starts talking to her partner, only to realise he is from a alternate reality and has no idea what she is on about, the facial expressions are superb, really haunting scene, I literally had the hairs standing on the back of my neck, brilliant.

Great shout. "Watch this..." and Bartlet puts his hands in his pockets.

Also from West Wing, the Leviticus speech "When I stand, nobody sits" (or something like that but it is truly superb).
Yeah, watched that last week (I'm on my 4th outing of the West Wing). "In this White House, when the president stands, no-one sits."

I prefer the Lily of the Valley reveal as a hair raiser

In terms of movies that get the hair on head it is for me the 'payback/beatdown' type scenes which involve some kind of either aggressive or suspense music

One of my favourite underrated films.

Oliver Stone's best works are not only good in terms of acting and plot, but bring in realistic real life issues surrounding the subject. This is one. And I don't even like American Football.... smile

Dambusters, the scene at the beach where they are testing the bombs, and it finally works.

Worlds Fastest Indian, where he leaves the cars for dead.

My favourite film (dont know why, i just love it), 'Reign over me' with Adam Sandler (who is incredible in it) playing victims of 9/11 father/husband. his speech near the end...

"l get that you're in pain. But you got each other. You got each other... and l'm the one who's gotta see her and the girls all the time. Everywhere l go. l even see the dog. That's how f*cked up l still am. l look at a German shepherd, l see our goddamn poodle."

Gets me every time!

A surprisingly excellent film indeed.

That is a great shout, the "Watch this..." moment, plus the buildup to it with Dire Straits' "Brothers in Arms" as the soundtrack.

Another vote for HEAT shootout - from the moment Chris comes out of the bank smiles at his partners in crime before he catches a glimpse of Bosco moving in across the road - without a moments hesitation his rifle is up and firing full-auto straight at them with murderous intent to him being patched up by Jeremy Piven.

I don't know why, but it's the only film which seems to really capture the murderous savagery of automatic fire, the way cars, buildings and people get torn up - the sound especially makes it seem less glorified Hollywood and more terrifying.
