Could be. I did notice his centre few teeth were much whiter than the rest due to earlier incidents....

He smacked his teeth in due to tripping up filming the narrow boat thing

Made a right mess of them and delayed filming for a good while

Ironic really smile

I really enjoyed it, great TV. Wouldn't fancy trying that hatch ejection for real!

I really enjoyed it.

As far s getting out of any of the V-Bombers, all of them were the same i.e. ejection seats for the pilot and co-pilot and none for the three other crew members.

The Victor had the best system for the other crew members as they went out through a side door. The side door had a wind shield attached which protected the crew member from wind blast during evacuation.

Watched this last night...

I am in two minds, I like Guy but the format with Mr patronising/dramatic voice-over man style really grates.

they need to ditch the style, let Guy carry the show, the voice-overs just slow the whole programme down and also seem intent on dumbing down the content.

And can we please loose the fake drama?

I turned it off after the 1st ad break. I hate TVs current obsession with trying to make the most banal into a state of mild peril that could have world ending consequences, but never does. All delivered in gruff northern timbre.

I really like Guy too, I like planes, I like mild peril and I live in the north. Maybe I need to watch again with the finger over the mute button.

.... Am I correct in thinking that some of the interviews with previous crew were from something else? I've heard the chap talking about how he told his wife that if she heard them take off, she should get the kids in the car and drive towards the Isle of Skye in something else ...
Yes, that was if they scrambled to drop nukes on the Ruskies, when that program still existed.

I loved Guys comment when talking about the bloke that bought it back in the 90's for twenty five grand - "how do you explain that one to the wife ?" laugh
I expect she's quite used to it by now, David Walton has a nice little collection of Cold War aircraft http://www.bruntingthorpeaviation.com/the-aircraft...smile

Saw it last night after recording it.

Agree with this. Didn't stop watching but i do get fed up of these programmes always being for the LCD.

I recorded the program and haven't seen it yet, did they mention Operation Skyshield? Getting in to position to bomb the Whitehouse really is something that should be more widely known.
No they didn't - off to google I go.

Showed the true capability of the Vulcan, when they mentioned the falklands, I hoped they'd mention the attacks on the US.

Basically they managed to "bomb" the white house and various other US places with ease against the US military expecting them.

In the first mock attack they lost 1 from 8, other 7 all managed to strike and RTB without incident.

In the second they all made it to their targets, one squadron made it with only being pinged by radar once.

I seem to remember one Vulcan even managed to land somewhere in the USA without being detected biggrin

Was that due to the excellence of the Vulcan or ineptitude of the US defence systems?

Where were the Vulcans operating from?

A bit of both I suspect. The Vulcan's launched form Scotland and Bermuda, and for the time had a very advanced jamming system which played a major part. The Vulcan is also surprisingly stealthy.

The one intercept was by a Voodoo and the Vulcans would have been near the Voodoo's ceiling, no idea what else they had in the air looking for them though.

Voodos had Genie missiles, didn't they. That would have atomised a whole squadron of Vulcans.

Yikes, hadn't heard of the Genie, that looks scary. The fact that they deliberately had 6 people standing directly underneath it to prove it was safe doesn't make it any less scary either.

they still had to get pretty close to start with (6 mile range) and some 1,000ft blast radius

(would have been idea during WWII against incoming bomber formations though)
