Chris Harris must modernise and up his game
Discussion
Good on them for going about it differently. Im happy to see Sabine and Harris in there. Harris has the potential to have a strong character like Clarkson did. That's where my praise ends.
One reason I stopped watching F1 was Eddie Jordan. Need I say more?
It couldn't be more PC. No longer is it allowed to be three white blokes anymore. No. We've got a Black guy, a monkey, a girl, a bloke and a non genderspecific robot.

Hmmm. Not sure about The White, sorry Le Blanc, & Jordan is a definite no no for me.
The producer has apparently moved on to 'Other projects' & im sure I read that BBC 2 Controller Cohen has been moved to one side as well.
Chris Harris will be good on the driving, but it's not You Tube so his presentation style may not work too well, as will Sabine but has she presented anywhere else? Chris Evans should be a good front man & The Stig will be......The Stig. I know nothing of the others.
Another post said 'One Show with cars' & I rather think that nails it.
One things for sure. It won't be 3 blokes 'cocking about' as James May once described it but then maybe that format is past its sell by because the previous incarnation of TG had become rather stale, even the Specials were lacking.
I think that the new series will be a tester & within a couple of series presenters will leave, or be dropped, & in time it will revert to 3.
Il give it a watch though.

Honestly, seeing the line up, makes me interested to see how it all pans out - they are obviously going for something totally new and possibly completely away from the current studio format with that many presenters?
Also, I hope the presence of those with actual driving and motor sport talent in the roster will make it more factual and entertaining for a more car-focussed audience. Outgoing Top Gear was for 5 out of it's 6 episode series, total tosh. Lots of people seem to have forgotten this.
More sub-10 minute 'ring type challenges please, less police/ambulance substitute vehicle challenges. Please be good.
Still can't stand Chris Evans though.

And I thought the TG press release was under embargo... Happy to see CH on TG. I'm saying this since 2008 and ever since everyone laughed at me.My guess is one Chris will fail soon and Charles Morgan will replace him. Great and I can't wait for the 1st show to be recorded.

Evans will be the host in the studio, TFI Friday style, with the others orbiting around him, in and out of the studio. Expect video link between studio and track for wackiness, and audience participation, interspersed with pre-shot video reviews.
With your accurate ability to predict the future do you have tomorrow's lottery numbers too?I'm not even being sarcastic.

I say lets give it a go!
Chris Evans - hmm..never really a fan of his...but lets see.
Chris Harris - YES! Im happy about this as i rate him.
Sabine - Yes, could be good.
Matt - Yeah why not, he's funny and did drive very well on the SIARPC bit
Rory - hadnt actually heard of him before but just watch a vid of his and didnt hate him...
Eddie Jordan??!! Hmmm??!!!
The Stig - well, at least we know what he's going be like.
It's going to be interested to see how these lot are going to work together (or not, if they are all doing separate films in different places, kind of thing)
So i say lets see how it goes.
They must be maybe coming away from the whole studio kind of thing? I cant see them all presenting at the same time and place?
Also i think the whole image is 'shopped. I think they have all had their picture taken and put together on the same image.
Starts in May, not long really!
Tend to agree. It looks like it's going to be ginger in the studio and each episode will feature some of the other 6 doing some solo bits and other bits together. The most appealing aspect is that there seem to be some quality egos in that pudding that should clash quite nicely. Chris Evans - hmm..never really a fan of his...but lets see.

You mean very similar to the immensely successful "Fifth Gear"? That's bound to pull in the multi-million people audiences and the multi-million pounds for BBC Worldwide. smithyithy said:
I don't see them just continuing the original formula, as the original trio will be doing that in Amazon
Errr.... original? There was Top Gear before those trio, you know. If anything, this could be a *return* to the actual original - a larger number of presenters acting semi-independently.

Can't wait though. Fascinated to see how Schmitz and Harris get on in the show.

I don't see whats to moan at. We still have a Clarkson/Hammond/May, and now we have another Car show to enjoy.
There are 2 car based programs where there were once one. Its a win win. Even if its just to propel some of these presenters on to better things.
I'll reserve all judgment of the new TopGear until it airs. Until then, I don't understand the amount of moaning going on around the internet.
Absolutely agree with this!!!!There are 2 car based programs where there were once one. Its a win win. Even if its just to propel some of these presenters on to better things.

I am personally excited about this line-up. Got the potential to make a great motoring show.

In true BBC fashion, all the diversity bases have been covered. Cant be seen to be discriminating now...
It does seem quite a lot of presenters though and I agree with the comment that it might be the one show with cars type format.
Not diverse at all - nobody young and a single token woman (who can certainly drive but that doesn't redeem her TV persona which I find cringingly one dimensional) .Still , it's better than three tragically middle aged blokes I guess(and I speak as one myself). I don't regard anti - discrimination as a bad thing - I just think that it isn't 1975 any more and as women (for example ) drive cars, spend money and - dammit - can even vote there's nothing remotely wrong with reflecting half of our population. Maybe we will even get a woman in Number Ten next;oh hang on... It does seem quite a lot of presenters though and I agree with the comment that it might be the one show with cars type format.

The ironic thing is that TG had a higher female audience than other car shows with female presenters.Six presenters?!
I suppose it's good they clearly feel they can totally change the format - they should have the freedom to let their creative juices flow - but six presenters sounds like a bit much. It will dilute our exposure to the characters and, well, quality over quantity... too many cooks spoil the broth etc. etc.
In fact while they are at it don't they need a seventh?! There's an obvious gap in their anti-discrimination armour - ageism! They have middle aged, and old ... but where's the young person? I expect the BBC will now panic as they realise this and employ - dare I mention - SupercarsOfLondon ("hashtag!") or another one of the post modern youtube crew...
p.s. to the guy that alleged I was Clarkson in disguise...sadly I am not. But I do find him entertaining to watch and personally he doesn't offend me; it's just banter.

After having a think I reckon I can make sense of having so many co-hosts. Reading Richard Porter's (excellent) book 'and on that bombshell' he frequently mentions the chaos around getting pieces filmed and edited in time for air, I'd assume the BBC has used the logic of 'double the hosts, half the time'.
I am quite interested to see how it develops, in a way I'm glad they aren't just trying to replicate the previous format.
