Great episode. Disappointed it's coming to an end next week!

Though I hear a second series has been commissioned, so we can but hope it makes its way over here.

Another 2 episodes I think, this was number 6 of 8

Yeah, it is 8, but the EPG has showing 6/7 yesterday.

It said feature length episode next week so I guess they will show 7 and 8 together to finish the series.

I'm sort of enjoying it and keep watching for the novelty value of the East's perspective, but the plot is made of Swiss cheese and some of the acting is a bit ropey (several nice young ladies though). I'd say more of a Trabant series than a BMW...but then I would fancy a go in a Trabant for fun.

A bit, yes.

It was like they were doing a tongue-in-cheek episode but, in a weird way, that made it a bit more realistic I guess as they must have had fanatical people doing moronic stuff aswell as hardened spy-types.

I'm curious as to how it will end. Rumours of another series so will it just be open-ended?

Doesn't need to be serious, does it? It's neither a documentary nor a retelling of a specific set of events. I'm sure that many things that spies all over the world have done, look much like capers in retrospect!

( nono not the little green things!)

It's been a bit daft the whole way through. Every time he ends up in a sticky situation, a fortunate co-incidence happens that removes suspicion from him. I don't think we got 1/2 way through the first episode without him doing something where in reality he'd have been caught.

But if we embrace the daft, and accept the needle has swung towards "james bond" levels of luck to make it entertaining over factual. It's pretty good. wink

I'm a bit confused how he crosses the border so easily, on a West or East German passport he'd be attracting the attention of the Western border guards surely?

It's building up to Exercise Able Archer '83 so the paranoia levels next week should be turned up to 11....

It looks like young Edel is in for some bad news when Tischbier gets in touch with him.

Next time will be Deutschland 86, where they are in a bleak north German town, befriend a young by and dress him as a skinhead, red braces, DM boots etc. The girls will be punks. jester

I missed last week's episode and didn't read this thread for the week but have managed to pick it all back up.

Not really. there was little reason for anyone to be doing anything vaguely naughty in East Germany on a West German passport, so they could travel reasonably freely.
