Epic - Faith no more
Didn't come out until '89. I bet you're one of those autistic bores who criticises a fictional programme for having cars in the background with 'the later grille' and stuff too, aren't you?

The programme's soundtrack throughout has been 80s, not 1983.
I was pretty sure they were all at least pre-1983. Apparently they got noted musicians to create a playlist for each episode. Certainly all the ones I've Googled from memory have been 1983 or earlier, not that it matters much.V8mate said:

That would be me, I'm afraid . It wasn't a criticism though, more of an observation, it's about the only skill I have . The tiny tiny continuity errors don't detract from the story one bit, it's just mildly amusing to check my memory isn't failing me yet.I bet you're one of those autistic bores who criticises a fictional programme for having cars in the background with 'the later grille' and stuff too, aren't you?
As with the latest series of Fargo, I just love the late 70's/early 80's costumes, cars and building decor. I guess it's just to do with growing up as a kid during that period.
Notable spots last night were a Mk1 Golf, Mk3 Cortina with square headlights, and an E23 7 Series.

Just wherever the programme is being discussed, people think it's useful to wade in and rubbish it because something in the background isn't quite right. I notice the cars too - because I'm interested in cars and also because I'm a cold war kid - but, as you said, don't let production difficulties get in the way of the story/acting etc.

Sorry for the confusion, I don't thing Epic was part of the soundtrack, I was just drawing a parallel to the fish floundering on the floor and to the famous FNM video for Epic. Saying that, I did have a few beers last night, so the song might have been played.
thought I might've been going deaf as I hadn't noticed it... needed some Evidence. V8mate said:

I'm slightly embarrassed that I can spot the differences between an 84 and an 86 Audi 100, 30 years later, but struggle to distinguish the differences between a Hyundai i40 and new Ford Mondeo.
I imaging finding period correct cars is getting somewhat tricky anyway. The ones they do find all seem to be immaculate, although I guess they're fully restored items that have lots of love and attention lavished upon them.

Particularly the more "boring" kit that you need for period street scenes - I'm also watching "The Americans" at the moment, set in the same timeframe & with a similar premise; there's a decent amount of what would've once been very common Yank iron being used. I'm going to have to admit that I didn't know what a Taunus was.
I remember my dad having Cortinas as company cars, 2 estates followed by 2 mark 5 saloons (they might have been changed every 12 - 18 months), but I was only young at that point, and not all that car obsessed at the time.

I winced when the fish face planted.
"No fish were harmed during the making of this series" Maybe...Assuming that was a real fish that was seemingly removed from the tank, dropped face first and filmed looking a bit worse for wear on the floor, would the animal rights groups not have something to say about that sort of thing being shown on TV or does it not apply because it was a German TV series?
Edit: All OK.

That fish was an '84 certainly not an '83.
Correct, nor was it the European variant! That said, discus fish barely even swim, let alone jump from a tank.
As the custodian of many tropical and marine fish, that did make me wince, probably more than seeing the girl hit by the car.
