It's always struck me as a bit of an odd thing for the BBC to show.
White middle class bloke goes to a Caribbean island to sort out the crimes the incompetent local police can't manage. It seems to have a whiff of celebrating old school colonialism about it. It doesn't bother me but I pointed it out to the SiL who is a bit of a right on type and she was forced to agree.
To be fair, most of the murders are by and of white middle class folk - It's just Midsommer with a beach! I must say, though, that I hate that new female police constable with a vengance! What an awful character.

I enjoy this, it's a nice light drama set in a nice place. Seems that if you do enough general drama on the BBC you get rewarded with a few days in Guadalupe filming. Decent selection of classic cars in there - as well as the old taxi, we had a Peugeot 504 convertible in a previous series, and a regular in this one has a BMW 2002.

In reality, I think it is a rehash of the Bergerac formula - which is about to be rehashed again (perhaps to reduce travel costs to Guadeloupe)White middle class bloke goes to a Caribbean island to sort out the crimes the incompetent local police can't manage. It seems to have a whiff of celebrating old school colonialism about it. It doesn't bother me but I pointed it out to the SiL who is a bit of a right on type and she was forced to agree.

My wife is a regular viewer, and that was my first thought. It does seem a bit off.
