White middle class bloke goes to a Caribbean island to sort out the crimes the incompetent local police can't manage. It seems to have a whiff of celebrating old school colonialism about it. It doesn't bother me but I pointed it out to the SiL who is a bit of a right on type and she was forced to agree.
To be fair, most of the murders are by and of white middle class folk - It's just Midsommer with a beach! biggrin

I must say, though, that I hate that new female police constable with a vengance! What an awful character.

You only just discovered it? It's been going for years.

Enjoyable fluff with nice scenery and sunshine. What's not to like on a cold winter's evening?
Agreed, been watching it for years now.

I enjoy this, it's a nice light drama set in a nice place. Seems that if you do enough general drama on the BBC you get rewarded with a few days in Guadalupe filming. Decent selection of classic cars in there - as well as the old taxi, we had a Peugeot 504 convertible in a previous series, and a regular in this one has a BMW 2002.

Just paid a visit to Guadeloupe and made a trip out to the location used for filming. A lovely place and filming is spread out over different areas made to look like it’s all in one town. Quite a big tourist attraction now for the area.

The quality of the DI gets worse with every replacement too

I disliked her when she first started, though she's calming down a bit now and not quite so annoying. I was surprised Danny John-Jules isn't in this series, though the storyline suggested he was travelling, so might return at some point. Presumably it clashed with Strictly.

Anyone else noticed that the death is now always four minutes in and the flash of inspiration comes exactly forty minutes later? The death was usually at five minutes in with Humphrey...

Ah, but not a patch on the original Sara Martins:

Who was in Father Brown recently rolling around in a sheet cloud9

I think Florence's bloke is a wrong'un though.

Ruby for the +1 but for the DI I meant Ben Miller to Kris Marshall to Ardal O'Hanlon, getting worse each time

I warmed to Humphrey's bumbling ways after a while...

I was late to the party and my first episode was Kris Marshall' first. I was not looking forward to Ardal O'Hanlon but actually i'm not minding him too much. Agree about Ruby but she is starting to get better, also could not agree more about Florence and for the record so much prettier than Camille.

I think Ruby's character will grow in time, two major changes in short succession are a bit much biggrin

I think so, they won't want to change two of the main characters in one series.

In reality, I think it is a rehash of the Bergerac formula - which is about to be rehashed again (perhaps to reduce travel costs to Guadeloupe)

My wife is a regular viewer, and that was my first thought. It does seem a bit off.

Oh crap, what has the world come to when people think that. It's just wonderfully quaint, if a tad murdery...
