Apparently betting is for Simon Bird or Diane Morgan as the next DI. Is it a woman's turn?
I've also seen Bill Nighy's name mentioned!

Bill Nighy would be good but I think Ben Wishaw would be brilliant.

Six months on a Caribbean island for the next few years.

Suddenly the acting malarkey makes sense. hehe

Wouldn't have thought so. The show has always been a team of two men and two women, not sure if they'd want to change that. Interesting that the Kris Marshall spin-off also follows the same format of a team of two men and two women.

They could easily shift the ‘lower’ police staff round to accommodate that balance

I believe that Ralf Little will soon be announced as the next James Bond. I have it on very good authority.

Too big a name now. I doubt the BBC could afford him, plus I reckon he's already got a list of more tempting offers.

They are also doing another spin-off, "Return to Paradise" which will have a woman in the lead role, so I don't think Death in Paradise will go down that route just yet.

There is no reason to not have a woman but Diane Morgan is painful to watch.

Why does the lighting in that picture look like she is in front of a green screen? Have noticed it a few times in the main program as well.

Yes I thought the spin offs last episode of series one had a scenes with an odd look to them.

I also have news that another spin off is in its pre production stage. Provisionally entitled "Escape From Paradise" it will involve several ex characters waking up on an isolated Island.
With no memory of how they got there or why they are there it will be more serious in tone. After a while they realise that the island is very strictly controlled by a mysterious set of people. Escape is impossible as the shores are protected by large balls that float along the shore driving escapees back onto the beaches.
Each week a new head of the island security forces will delve into the characters minds as they search for clues about why they left their jobs.

It looks a though Mathew Horne is the current favourite to replace Ralf Little.

Shame, I've always thought he was a bit of a bell-end.
