Used to enjoy the originals with Amanda Burton. Last year the ones with Amelia Fox were, sort of, OK but seemed (for me) to stray too far from the principle of the programme.
Well, now it's back and last week during the first story of its return I sat through both episodes of the plot, cringing at the content which I found too centred on the staff and their personal lives. This week, tonight's episode has now turned me off for good. I know that there has to be some background stuff to make up a story but there was less than a few minutes of pathology work. Come on, what it this supposed to be about? Even the boss ended up in bed with a cop. Not for me; even though the Fox lady is very nice, not enough reason for me to watch any more. OH can watch the second part of this story on her own tomorrow and I will go upstairs and get more enjoyment out of some more of Guy Martin's book thanks.

agree. This programme is now one of the most st things on the telly, and that's saying something.

Ta! Glad I'm not the only one. I also remember posting when last year's series seemed to be heading down the same road, but it briefly got a bit better for a while.

I thought last weeks had a bit more realism than usual, with the copper giving them some grief for swanning off investigating things when it's not their job. That does seem to be a common theme - they get an idea, then instead of passing back to the police to dig into, they go off on their own with it. I don't know how realistic that is.

To be fair I can probably do without seeing much detail of dead bodies being cut up, and at one point that might have meant the show wasn't for me. I don't think it strays off-topic any more than any other show, though I did think there was a bit of extra padding in last night, and a dangerous number of focus-pulling scenes that annoy me.

Agree. I almost posted a similar rant last week but got so annoyed writing the post I had to shut the laptop as I was in danger of chucking it out of the window.

I remember years ago people moaning about "Monster of the week" episodes of The X Files. I'm the opposite with this. I don't care or want to know anything about the stupid characters or their tedious lives.

I've always been a fan of this show, but it's getting quite hard to defend some of it now.

Last week we had the pathology/forensics team running off to try and interview someone who at that point was a potential murder suspect. This week we're supposed to believe that they'd be allowed into a highly sensitive briefing with a counter terrorism unit. I know we allow a bit of creative license, but it's getting harder to look past.

Also, in last nights episode, the opening seen was supposed to be set in Iraq, but it was so clearly filmed in a British forest clearing it was laughable.

I thought it was supposed be Bosnia circa 1993.

It was during the Srebrenica Massacre in July 1995

I agree with the above. Last week's took the piss with the amount of Police investigation the Forensics were up to. Creative licence yes but full on Copper stuff - NO!

What else is there on a Monday though - Benidorm?

It pissed me off so much last night my wife turned it off before I put the remote through the telly.

The last of the series is good, I have only seen part one but I can guess the outcome. Very imaginative story and a bit of a "no way they guessed that" moment but overall I cant wait for part 2. Tally ho.

Yes, just as it's got back into its stride, it's the end of the series.

I enjoy it, but Forensics going in with armed Police on a raid etc?
They seem to be trying to get them closer to the action, unless that really happens, which I doubt.

The Beeb's answer to CSI but with little or no style. The last story was the best of a rather dismal bunch. I won't bother in future.
