Fondly remembering her from the 80's I thought the beeb had made a mistake putting this on at quarter to eleven at night, after 10 minuets I realised it was two hours too early.

I thought it was OK. Her Mrs Merkel impression is spot on. Calling Nicola Sturgeon up to rant about her stealing her fashion style was pretty funny.

it is something to do with female humour. I found it an entirely laugh-free zone from beginning to the point I turned it off. Mostly just rubbish.

I've never been a fan of either comediennes or impressionists so didn't see it, but it sounds like I didn't miss much.

I was surprised to see that she's worth nearly £80million though.

It was terrific ; I had forgotten how good she was. I don't like sketch shows but this one is the exception. Very smart subtext alluding to her own absence from UK too. When in USA The Simpsons debuted on her show.

Hit and miss, which is always the case with sketch shows. Couple of genuine laughter out loud moments.
Ullman is very good. Even though I don't get all of her humour, I enjoyed it enough that I'll stick with it.

Only watched half so far, don't expect to laugh at all of any comedy show, this one did better than most IMO. Merkel and Dench both superb.

Sound very much like a male chauvinist.

A lot of which she has burnt through in donations to the Labour Party in a desperate attempt to get her daughter Mabel selected as a candidate in a nice safe seat.
After going to school and university in the sunny climes of California, Mabel worked for Harriet Harman for a while so I'm sure she has been taught all about the current concerns of working people living on sink estates in South Wales.

What isn't a surprise, given her political connections, is that she rocked back up at the BBC. Don't think ITV, SKY or CH4 would have given her the time of day.

She was interviewed on Radio 4 (woman's hour, don't laugh) the other day, and was awkwardly unfunny.

I recall her being quite funny in the 80s, but she was cring-inducingly 'transatlantic' on that Irish bloke's show (I find him hard enough to tolerate, so I didn't watch for long...).

Obviously someone in BBC commissioning owed her a favour from way back, but if that was a representative of the show, it's fully repaid!

Don't like the show at all, but......

It did give us the gift of The Simpsons! All those many years ago!

Strange that the right wing press (which let's face it, is nearly all of it ) either previewed it (in case of Sundays ) or reviewed it glowingly . Anyway - you miss the point. The only way to judge any artistic work is by judging the work , not the person who did it. Judge the art not the artist ...

I quite enjoyed it actually. Thought the impressions were spot on.

And she's still got nice tits.

Just watching it on I-Player, not very innovative or original, is it?

It was funny though, that's the main thing with a comedy programme.

Already ommissioned for a second series, based on the critics' appraisal of the first episode. Lot of people must be very easily amused.

Not original, but definitely self aware.
The opening of the show was a song where she basically says "this is the same show I've been doing since I was a kid".
Then there was the recurring sketch about a woman who's been out of the country for nearly 30 years and is out of touch.

I watched this for the first time last night, and I found some of it quite funny, the OAP computer class in particular! smile
