I watched it on iplayer again so skipped the talking and filler.

The format makes no sense. I don't understand the purpose of having the robots fight each other and then a final with the top 2. It makes sense when at the the end of all the robots fighting each other, 2 are on equal points so they battle it for a place in the next round.

Thor was a dominant robot and performed best in the group stage against all competitors. Then in final because of some technical difficulty / bad luck, an inferior robot qualifies for next round.

Technical difficulty?
It broke. It got knocked out.

It's all well and good having a fast car that breaks, but you'll never win the race. Just look at creation racing at Le Mans.

Reliability has to be key for robots that are destined to be chucked about an arena, burned and hit with hammers and spinning discs. Thor was the coolest robot, but on this occasion the superior robot was the one that didn't break smile

My family put this on this week and I had no intention of watching it (although I used to way back when my son was a young fan), but I found it as compelling viewer as ever!

The contestants are, of course, rather nerdy, but they all seem to have well developed senses of the absurdity of it all.

I suspect I'll be watching next week!

Agree, as much as I thought Thor deserved to win, it was damaged so was a fair result.

Was Foxic driver the one who was heckling the Thor fella? Didn't like him much.

Well, I just watched Sunday's episode, came back in here, skim read over the posts made since then, and I don't know what people are bhing and moaning about - it was a great episode.

The only thing I'd agree on is that it was unfortunate that Thor got beaten by a robot he'd already comprehensively beaten, but that's the way it goes.

And as for the "will never have sex with a woman" geek stereotype comments people are making? Take a look at yourselves, guys. You're posting on a car-based internet forum, on a thread about fighting robots, constructed by the people you are reviling, FFS. If you're so virile and superior then head on over to manlymen.net or wherever. rolleyes

As above your watching a show for nerds and saying wow those guys are so nerdy looking lol

I do think it will get better as time goes on and also with people talking about some of the robots not being so great, one of the reasons was most teams only had a few weeks to get ready reading this reddit post from pulsar, 9 weeks from nothing to ready to fight.

https://www.reddit.com/r/battlebots/comments/4vkbx...

So i think as time goes on it should get a lot better as more people turn there attentions to building some great robots.

Great programme, but instead of 3 min challenge, it should be about 5-10 mins and then they will really get destroyed!

They are generally buggered in two minutes, so another ten minutes of one going around in circles with a non functioning bent hammer and the other frantically buzzing on its back would not be overly entertaining.

I thought thor was good, first timer 1 man band, had good control etc, shame it failed at the final hurdle.

Some of the bouts were a bit crap but that's how it goes.
Thor was fking ace, if only for the sheer entertainment value of listening to both presenters trying and comprehensively failing to pronounce it. Even my kids were falling about laughing.

Just caught up on iplayer, Thor should've had that in the bag.

Caught up with episode 2. The format is a bit weird now I admit, the last battle didn't really need to happen. I would understand if it was 2nd place in another heat vs 1st in a different one, but when they've already battled and the previous winner can lose and go out of the competition rather than get a rematch it doesn't quite seem right.

The thing I found most strange was that they ran it like a league, and it was 3 points for a win. But Thor was 3 points clear from his nearest opponent on the final battle so you would have thought that he'd have still won on points (possibly on points + previous wins). But instead they ran the final battle as "sudden death" which really did seem grossly unfair.

I've watched the latest Battlebots today, it won't be on for a few weeks now because Olympics. Fights stuff... Warhead vs Minotaur. I was hoping Warhead could do it, especially after the spinning top antics in the last fight, but no. Minotaur actually beheaded them, game over. Minotaur and Tombstone both look scary good, I think that could be the final going on form, Poison Arrow is a dark horse though. If Minotaur and Tombstone meet, they could both end up in bits hehe

Glitterbomb, built in 4 weeks but "mostly in a week" - this is going to be a total stheap. Weapon hasn't been tested, again!

Another "rushed" robot with wooden armour, panels will be flying off this soon.

Those idiots with the wooden stbox, how much time and money (ok, probably not so much money) for 15 seconds of action? Absolute crap. Hookers would have been a better investment, but by the looks of them they'd probably get less than 15 seconds use out of one of those between them.

Glitterbomb was absolutely st. An untested weapon that broke after one swing, it's a theme for this series, absolutely awful.

Not the best start. Two duffers made in a rush, dantomkia is unchanged from old it seems and the other bot is a bit boring having no weapons other than ramming.

MDF robot..... What planet they from?
