Overdozer made me laugh when Dara said "MDF body with petrol engine inside which can burn it down" and they had no answer, just a look of "darn, didn't think of that". Shame they didn't get hit by a spinning disc weapon or chucked on the fire pit.
I did laugh when he said "You might as well have made it out of biscuits". biggrin

Actually brilliantly stupid!
I going to have to rethink my plan for a paper mache robot.

Just wondering, does anyone who isn't fugly get involved in building robots. And if so, when will they feature?

I'm sure theres been a papier-mache clad machine in the past. At least it looked like it (probably fibre glass by hand). It looked like a dinosaur and I believe it was one of the first machines to face Hypno-Disc and as you might imagine, it got completely shredded to pieces.

I'm loving the combination of new Battlebots and Robot Wars. The machines in BB are terrifying, spectacular feats of engineering and the ones in RW are doubtless inspiring a whole new generation of kids/dads to have a go at building one in their sheds.

piss poor robots so far. havn't seen one innovative design. Imean dantomkia was a top robot in the old version. And the winner was a pushing flip wedge. I mean i recon a robot like panic attack could come in here and win. (still a good robot but was past its best by series 4 or 5)
They had less than 3 months to build robots you not going to build anything innovative in 3 months so its new teams just having a go, exsisting robots and maybe a few good new robots like carbide and tr2.

Complete Control vs Warhead.

Apologies for the youpak link - youtube don't seem to be hosting it in the UK.

I loved the cute little girl on the Glitterbomb team, sweet as anything and with her priorities well sorted:

"Our robot is pink, with a silver belt, and the axe is big and sharp"

That was great. Also Minotaur vs Warhead was spectacular. Warhead got decapitated!

The pit needs to go.

Its a tactic used by the weaker teams and means we get to see less of the favourites.

On the other had it adds a salacious element of randomness to the battles - david can take on goliath and keep things interesting.

I personally think all that stuff needs to go, including the house robots. If the battles themselves are interesting enough, it shouldn't be needed.

Unfortunately at present the battles are so tame that a forty-piece brass band complete with Red Arrows flypast and nude wingwalkers couldn't rescue them.

And it's got the same silly problem that old Robot Wars series 1 had, the fire grate is not flush with the arena floor so low wedge robots get stuck on it.

How can I watch battlebots in the UK?
Netflix or anything have it? Looks a billion times more hardcore than RW.
