Anyone else notice Thermidor 2 in the background when walking through the pits. Near the beginning I think

Good episode that. When will people learn not to use exposed rubber tyres.
I was expecting shards of broken fibreglass to be strewn everywhere, but it didn't happen!

I think it is an add on so that more lesser weight robots already in exitance can add a bit more options or compete. Terror turtle is an old robot from the previous shows. It was rubbish then and is rubbish now.

Anyone notice how slow storm 2 was. it was lightning quick in the old series. I would have thought 10 years of battery advancement would have made it fast and durable but seemingly not.

Very impressed at apollo flipping the house robots the are all over 300kg now. I bet the series producers did not think it possible.

Same. The block style robots are always insanely boring.
Hopefully pulsar is absolutely mental next week. It's the one bot I've wanted to see.
The apollo guys were a right laugh which was good to see! Lack of destruction overall this week.

I thought old series Storm 2 was actually entertaining even though it was only a ram/push bot. It had around 18 hp and could slam people into the walls at speed. Not sure what's going on with the current incarnation. I think their old motors were ludicrously expensive so perhaps they've moved to something a bit less impressive.

"We've got modular weapons; we can decide which one to put on for each fight. For this round we're going with the flipper".... which we'll almost never actually use.

Dull, dull, dull.

Shoulda chucked Sir Killalot in with Apollo, just for the lols wink

My kids and I eventually decided it was all flannel - the regularity with which robots sat literally on top of it and yet they didn't flip implied their modular nonsense basically wasn't working.

It's a shame really as we were rooting for the PP3HD thing to go through. Great concept to put a dirty great big spinner on the bottom instead of the top, just needs a bit of finessing and better protection for wheels / motors.

Well after a few meh shows that was utterly immense

I fast forwarded through a lot of other episodes,in-between the fights and such but I wanted to watch all of that again.

Great tv.

Apollo was great. A few tweeks to their reliability and that is a fun one to watch.

Loved the flipping of the house robots and getting storm 2 out the arena.

Storm 2 was pretty dull, just driving around pushing others.

I thought Eruption were robbed in their battle with Storm 2. S2 were immobilized before the finish, yet it came down to judges decision in their favour?!

So far I'm enjoying the return of robot wars. Not every battle can be a classic, but it's providing enough good stuff overall.

Agree with the comments here - easily the best show of a pretty "meh" series so far. That one felt much more like the old ones with more energy and pizazz. Even Dara was more lively - he's been very dull up to now which isn't like him. A classic!

There was definitely a few questionable judges decision in that episode.

Storm 2 talked up about their variety of weapons and left the flipper on the whole time.

Apollo had mobility issues for most of the matches, I think it'll be their downfall later on.

It does reveal exactly how st the house robots are really are, that a fairly ordinary flipperbot can topple them and render them completely out of action. I'm quite surprised how prevalent it is to suffer disabling from basic stuff like cut-out links falling out, chains breaking/coming off, etc. The horizontal spinner again proves as destructive to the robot wielding it as to the target.

What really bugs me is the continual chanting from the audience 'in the pit'. Why in gods name would you want the fight to be over instantly by dumping a robot in the pit?

It'd be a hell of a lot better without the pit actually - nowhere to escape from the destruction.

Seeing how big a dent it put in put in Shunt's dozer blade makes you realise just how well armoured some of the other bots are, they clobbered Apollo and Storm 2 several times without doing them any major damage. You get some interesting gyro effects with the big spinners too, every time it hit the front of Apollo it jumped straight up in the air. Can't remember the name but the big spinner a week or two back that got dropped in the pit was balancing on one wheel in the bottom of the pit for quite a while.

Has the edge of the arena got high screens all the way around except for a small bit in the middle, it looks like the opportunity to flip one out of the arena is a bit more limited than in the old series.
