Robot Wars is coming back

Got to watch this episode yesterday. Has to be the worst episode I've seen, the favouritism given to the Cherub team was cringing. They should never have got to the final, did they actually damage another robot? Sure, PP3 was damaged, but they apparently did that to themselves in effectively destroying the Cherub bot.
Lets hope future tournaments are not blatently rigged.
I disagree on the rigged bit; they are judged on damage, control and aggression.Lets hope future tournaments are not blatently rigged.
My thoughts:
Damage; it did as much damage to its self as it did to Cherub, it would be hard not to score in favour of Cherub
Control; it can be slung across the arena when it makes a big hit due to the way the weapon works, the lack of predictability leads to an inherent lack of control.
Aggression; couldn't fault it there, they went in for the kill alright.
2:1 in favour of the kids imho.
Once they get the self destructive weapon sorted out it will be a very very good machine indeed
Has there even been an entry where the robot has been covered in something designed to jam up or clog the mechanism of opponents weapons?
I'm thinking along the lines of that material which is used on chainsaw trousers with the stringy mesh that would jam any spinning mechanism perhaps?

I think things like that are banned. Edit: I googled for "Robot Wars rules" and found the rules for Season 8 (which I think is last year?) and found the following restriction:
13.3.1 Entanglement
Entanglement devices such as nets, fishing line, cables, string, glues or tapes and any similar devices.

I think it was against Tombstone where the opponent put a "present" (box wrapped in giftwrap with a bow) on thier robot.
When tombstone span it's weapon up and charged, it ripped through the box and wrapped the net inside around it's spinner, stopping it from spinning.
Judges deemed it legal, after iirc a stop and clarification. Then they immediately changed the rules after the bout!

Indeed. A series or two ago of Battlebots, that rule wasn't in place.

How can you say they won on damage? Cherub caused no damage whats so ever. Its like a boxing match if a boxer knocks someone out but brakes his hand doing it so cant continue it doesn't matter because hes already won by knocking his opponent out.
I look at it more like trying to kill a video game boss in a small room with an RPG, sure you are gonna blow him to kingdom come but you are also going to splatter yourself all over the walls of the room (if the room is still there).Edited by BIANCO on Thursday 16th March 01:41
It did so much damage to its self that any points score for damage is going to be effectively nullified.
