Robot Wars is coming back
Discussion
It's a bit lame isn't it.
Weapons seem, for the most part, a little ineffectual. A bit tame. The really need a leaf out of the battle bots book. Much more powerful weaponry.
Concussion reminded me of minotaur from battle bots. Only the latter was actually truly destructive and durable. Concussion didn't seem to have the Welly in the drum most of time.
Next week we appear to have a robot that looks like Tombstone. I have high hopes, but i suspect it wont be nearly as awesome.

There was the drum spinner last week too. A few teams must have watched Minotaur on Battlebots and thought it was a good idea. I hope Thor goes through on wildcard though, makes a change to have something good that isn't a spinner or flipper.Weapons seem, for the most part, a little ineffectual. A bit tame. Always thought Thor was one of the better controlled and drivable robots out there - well thought out and built too, just a shame he never gets a break.
Bit of a Thor loserI'll get my coat.

I missed what he said at the end when he got flipped - I guessed he was cursing himself, it was a bit unlucky (credit to Concussion's weapon) to get flipped by a seemingly wounded and floundering robot.
Oh, I haven't watched the episode yet. I was just making a crap pun-based joke. ClockworkCupcake said:

(spoilers for the first group battle):
Must be honest, I was hoping the schoolkids got further than a few seconds in. Very innovative weapons design and if memory serves me right, this was the first pure next generation (in human lifespans) team we've had yet. Great idea and I hope we see more school projects in future.

Some of the weapons looked decent and promising, I thought it was going to be a good episode. Then they all pretty much failed to work and do any proper damage.
The Thor axe is rubbish too, there's no damage from it. He'd be better off turning it into a spike. There should also be some new house robots, the current ones are ancient.

Spikes can get stuck, axes are good but not for penetration. They are good at shock damage, rattling things that can break inside or to damage batteries. The Thor axe is rubbish too, there's no damage from it. He'd be better off turning it into a spike. To my mind Concussion has the best weapon I've seen. The way the spinner works mean they don't shoot off sideways every time they use it, also it lifts the opposing robot and helps keep itself on the ground.
With regard to the axe v. spike question, I reckon a lump hammer would be better than either!

I think they studied Minotaur, although on Battlebots they are allowed to spin up to much higher rpm - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkbAcwYix7IFourWheelDrift said:

Just spent 30 mins watching battle bots on YouTube. Wow. Makes robot wars look utterly rubbish.
It's like comparing Formula 1 with Formula Renault though. Different set of regulations. Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
