So, the leak didn't happen then?

Or if it did the BBC condemned it utterly and threatened legal action for breach of copyright and/or disciplined the person or persons responsible publicly?

Or was it that the leak that didn't happen, which the BBC did take control over, didn't result in Clarkson being told by his bosses to apologise?

Yeah, none of that happened. I made it all up.

What alternative reality field did you fall out of? nuts

Jeez... Clarkson has gone. The end. He was a controversial character who had got himself into scrapes at the Beeb before. Did they hang him out to dry... Who knows, it's not beyond the realms of possibility. Clarkson gave them an open goal.
I doubt anyone here would defend him if he was someone else. I'd imagine it'd be different if it was someone's nearest and dearest had been smacked at work. I'm sure they'd be wanting the aggressor sacked.

You are wrong. I can cite an example from my previous workplace that proves so (identities withheld to protect the protagonists).

Chap A strides up to chap B and lamps him squarely on the jaw in front of several witnesses. Reason for punch is that A had just discovered B had tried it on with his missus at a works night out.

No dismissals, no discipline, not even a formal meeting with the boss, who was a bit embarrassed because he knew about it already - turned out chap A was probably the last to find out.
Just out of (rapidly diminishing) interest - where do you work? As in industry/location not specific company name if you don't want to say

Jesus Christ, PH has cracked it - we've traveled back in time. Only to last spring, but it's a start.

I can't fathom why they decided to get Jordan on... what can he bring to the table?

Rory Reid I think will do great. I've been watching his Recombu series on YouTube for several months now and I think he's got real potential. I was amazed he only got 70k views on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd_6P_AQj6U
Word. smile
I posted that masterpiece on Facebook when it came out. I think it went over most people's head.. biggrin

I don't know what's worse, canned laughter or canned humour.

I got my head around Chris Evans hosting, accepted Matt LeBlanc but Eddie Jordan! its killed it for me. I never watched F1 on the beeb because of him, I'll never watch TopGear now, the guy talks total and utter rubbish on a constant basis

Just because someone punches someone else doesn't mean this thread will (ever) end, it happened on another forum once so must be universally applicable.

Mr Wiggy will be a good enough reason not to even start watching. Like you I was more the prepared to give it a go and hopefully there would be another good Motoring programme to watch but EJ is just so annoying it will be impossible to watch

There's two ways to view the EJ appt. Either someone thought it was a good idea (probably Evans) or someone thought it was a good way to get value from the remainder of his contract (probably Evans again).

Neither is a compelling reason to put someone that couldn't be TUPE'd over to Channel 4's F1 coverage back on TV.

Coulthard, Edwards and McKenzie were considered valuable enough to tempt over. Ask yourself why Jordan was left behind.

Or it's someone else to shoulder the blame if it's not the hit they expect it to be?

" Nurburgring legend Sabine earned Top Gear celebrity status after appearances in the show's former guise, not least for lapping the Nordschleife in a Transit van quicker than Clarkson could manage in an S-Type."

I think you'll find that she never. What she did was drive the S Type faster than Clarkson.

Same here. Chris Harris is a turn-off too, he likes the sound of his own voice too much. Rory seems a laugh from his YouTube videos.
