Sounds good. it also allows the BBC to keep dropping TG into the US.

Now we get two shows about cars, one with men talking about and driving cars, the other which the OAP's and luddites can watch with three old gits farting about in cars. Win win.

Chris Harris has been very quiet. Now that would be good.

Add the occasional bike review from someone and Sabine doing some fast driving. All good.

Guy Martin could do the bike reviews, don't know why he hasn't been asked to join the show.

Really hope Monkey Harris is on the show, missed his stuff since he left PH.
( yes I know he's on u tube,but I'm lazy...}

Now we have Matt B for the girls, who is going to be the object of desire for the guys?
Much as I like Sabine, not sure she will fill this position-two girls maybe?

Just a thought, if Evans is as much into cars as he seems,is he here on PH?

Chris Harris would be the best possible host for a motoring show. He knows a bit about cars, can throw them around on a track and has the right amount of sense of humour.
Clarkson, Hammond and May were finished a long long time ago. Everything they do now is so contrived and it seems as if the brief is, 'make it as ridiculous as possible'.

Remember when Daniel Craig was announced as James Bond?
yes

My posts are still on commanderbond.net saying what a great choice he is based on how he handled lead role in Layer Cake (the ones on MI6.com got lost when their database went tits-up).

I am starting to wonder if this is a joke gone wrong. LeBlanc's greatest success since Friends is appearing in a show about a TV series that gets meddled with by producers imposing casting decisions on the writers. The irony is palpable.

Well that's a very surprising and interesting choice, looking forward to seeing how it goes. Unlike the fan boys of the Clarkson Top Gear, who weirdly seem determined for it to fail before it's even started...

There's plenty evidence leaking out from production to suggest it has already.

The program has been in production for 5 months and only now is this decision made? There's been very little to suggest he's been working on the project already so this looks like a new appointment with the news released to garner some publicity, and/or to replace someone who was already working on the show who couldn't cut it..... scratchchin

OMG not an American!!!!!!!!

Get a life.
I don't have a problem with Americans but tell me the last successful american TV presenter on British TV. It's a different world. If you'd seen the US version of TG you'd know. It's utter garbage.
Sorry but I'm not having that. I've been of the opinion that Top Gear US is funnier and more entertainig than UK Top Gear for some time now.

Put the american dislikes to one side and watch it again...

(And no, i'm NOT american!!) thumbup

I think this is a good move, at least the BBC aren't trying to replicate Clarkson, Hamond and May.

OT but I think this and the other TG threads would make a great base for a Dave Gorman "Found Poem". I can hear him reading it now...

I doubt that Chris Evans always wanted him onboard, and even if he had wanted him at the outset Evans would have changed his mind or come up with another choice on a weekly basis since.

I'm putting it down to 5 months filming and production and they are not happy with what/who they have already, so hoping a big-name signing will give the project a boost, both in the public eye and on set.

Just don't think he's the right 'big name' though. I've now watched/listened to some of his long pieces to camera and voice-overs and his dead-pan delivery is soporific.

The more I think about it the more it looks like a cynical attempt to tap into particular audience demographics.

I think Matt is one of the few Americans that could be popular on TG, due to his popularity as Joey. I
His spin off show Joey did rather well I believe.
NBC canceled the series due to poor ratings in May 2006 and did not broadcast the remaining episodes.

Much like Evans's OFI Sunday.

This thread has introduced me to Dave Gorman's found poetry. Good stuff.

Reminds me of Adam Buxton YouTube comments.

Good decision IMHO. An even better one would be to drop Evans.

I can't imagine Joey filming a piece like Jeremy did in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage.
I can't imagine anyone doing a piece like that ever again other than Jeremy. It was touching, poignant and beautifully filmed. His Ferrari F12 "Hertfordshire" film was also particularly good I thought, the Bugatti cross-europe drive another great one too. And then there were the specials...

These were no accidents but, IMO, treasures in the dross and for which I'm grateful. I'm not sure how the new team can compete with some of the old, Inthink its an impossible task and I just hope they craft out an interesting, funny but beautifully shot format.
