Could be good, definitely could have made a far worse choice. I hope they try and do their own thing rather than recreate old top gear.

A Matt Le-Blanc shaped nail in the BBC shaped coffin in which TG rests.

I'll give it a go though, I may well be wrong.

I feel like he's not had the best time since Friends finished, so I really hope this goes well for him.
There's a reason for that (ahem)typecasting(ahem). What's his biggest success since Friends, I wonder.....scratchchin
Golden globe he received for Episodes probably.
Makes for depressing reading (for him).

He deserves something like TG, thoroughly likeable man and a petrolhead.

Good choice. I can imagine there might be a clash of egos though, especially if he turns out to be both funnier, better in front of the camera AND better at driving than Evans.

I hope so. Then Evans can leave.

They'll presumably be filmed standing on a car lot called "Central Parks"?
I cannot wait for the one where Ross and Rachel are on the brakes.

• I stole that from the Guardian comments section *
I not sure which is worse , stealing or reading the guardian comments.

I can't imagine Joey filming a piece like Jeremy did in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage. But I can see him doing silly pointless stuff like catheterising a dummy in the back of a speeding car... Maybe a sign of things to come!

Well, some say, he could not act his way out of a paper bag, that he looks like they shaved a chimp and stuck him in a suit,
All we know is he's not the stig..

I thought Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz were confirmed last year?!
By the Daily Mail.

Would love to dredge up some of the comments when James May first appeared on Top Gear. If I remember correctly people were not at all kind.
I find May rather dull on his own, works better with the other two.

I think Matt is one of the few Americans that could be popular on TG, due to his popularity as Joey. I
His spin off show Joey did rather well I believe.

Plus another Golden Globe nomination plus 3 Emmy nominations plus about another 8 for the show.

It is a BBC backed production as well filmed primarily in the UK so presumably LeBlanc feels OK about working for the BBC in the UK.

NBC canceled the series due to poor ratings in May 2006 and did not broadcast the remaining episodes.

Is it just me that is thinking the new TG is starting to sound a lot like TFI but with cars instead of bands?
