Top Gear Presenters Announced...
Discussion
to save time can we just have an auto post button 'it's not the same, i don't like change' (and PH could link up with the NHS and send a flu jab reminder to those posters)
at the very least with this many presenters hopefully one of them will realise 'slope' isn't a term of endearment

All I'll say is this won't last anything like as long as the last 3 presenters. Some will leave, Evans will get bored, viewing figures will drop and the show will be cancelled.
Clarkson should have paid a large fine rather than lose his job for what he did. We should have got 2 more series and that was that.
Top Gear was rubbish before 2002 and it will be rubbish again from 2016 IMO

Evans will get bored.
That is as sure as eggs is eggs. It'll be entertaining to see what he does when he starts to get bored/desperate.I expect several features filmed from his house, and a long piece about some random car (or boat, or bridge) he bought at auction.
I really am finding EJ a strange choice the more I think about it. What is the betting some BBC exec pushed the idea as he is still under contract for the F1 coverage and it was either this or pay him to sit at home.

As well as TG, LeBlanc is starting filming Episodes in April and a pilot for a new show in the States. I can't see him staying if the show in America gets commissioned. I'm guessing Evans has assembled such a large group of presenters so the workload per person is lessened, allowing them to do other stuff. Eddie Jordan is a bit of an odd choice. I wonder if the BBC dropped F1 to divert its budget into Top Gear? Either way, all the new presenters are going to be scrutinised in every element of their lives, just as the outgoing trio were. I see The Sun has already dragged up a Chris Harris quote, where he suggests that Clarkson, Hammond and May were irreplaceable. Does seem a shame that there isn't any new, or at least relatively unknown, talent. I used to be a Harris fan, and indeed a fan of the articles on here, but they're just too predicable to be of much interest. Just one long moan about turbos, semi-automatic gearboxes and pretty much all other modern tech. Everything was better in the past, don't you know.
I much prefer YouTubers these days, the likes of Mr JWW, Shmee, Seen through Glass and so on who just seem so much more enthusiastic about the cars they're driving and enjoy them for what they are, rather than bleating on endlessly about what they would have been if they were built in 1974. If Top Gear can capture that spirit and enthusiasm, I couldn't care who presents it.

TG was at its best before 2002, a real motoring programme, for motorists, with none of the mad stuff and escapist crap. Remember, JC thrives on controversy that's what pays his wages, hence the evolved format. Clarkson should have paid a large fine rather than lose his job for what he did. We should have got 2 more series and that was that.

This seems to be just more of the usual 5th gear drivel, with similar presenters, with the usual and boring "..what am best Porsche/BMW/Jaguar/Ferrari then?" week in week out.
Does this programme really need "personalities" then, ..can't it exist or progress purely on content? I'm 100% for the cars, I don't need hasbeens trying to show me how smug and cool they are at the expense of my licence fee.

Sorry but IMO that's totally wrong.I am intrigued to know what other form of employment you can get that is legally allowed to fine you rather than handing the nationally mandated penalty of a P45 for beating up a fellow employee?
People are always blaming the BBC for this, the fault lies 100% with a tired old drunk who lashed out and got what he was due- there is no denying Clarkson knows how to make entertainment type TV but it was his own fault he was fired. There can be no debate about this surely?
Lastly the three of them where clearly getting tired, May had publicly stated he wasn't sure he would renew his contract, the writers where grasping at straws- frankly 2 more series would have been a stretch.
Just forget about the old trio and enjoy what Evans and Co produce, I'm pretty sure Harris won't last long if its drivel as his videos and content have been high quality for years, Sabine and Eddie don't need the work, Joey can clearly get work anywhere he wants and the new boy... ok well there has to be one potential victim, lets assume he'll be the scape goat :-)

I do enjoy the Schmee stuff at times, but he'd be excited by pretty much anything .... Petrolicious, XCar (or whatever its now called), Motor Trend, Jalopnik - all offer a good variety of viewing.I much prefer YouTubers these days, the likes of Mr JWW, Shmee, Seen through Glass and so on who just seem so much more enthusiastic about the cars they're driving and enjoy them for what they are, rather than bleating on endlessly about what they would have been if they were built in 1974. And I think you've been watching different Chris Harris videos. His LaFerrari/819/P1 video was spectacular, and on occasion he'll moan, but most of the time he's just busy smacking the throttle and driving sideways with an insane grin on his face.

I think Evans works well on Radio 2, but I find him incredibly grating on TV; he always wants to take over any show he appears on, and that voice. Plus the fact that he wears those Peter Griffin 'important in show business' glasses even though he's had laser eye surgery. What? And for anyone pointing out the success of his recent return with the 'nostalgia-fest' that is TFI Friday. It came back with over 4m viewers for the one-off last summer and dropped to 1m for the Christmas special when the series ended in December. His TV days should have stayed in the 90s. He just looks like a creepy old man trying to be a trendy teenager now. No. I'm not a fan.

I'd never heard of Rory Reid before the post above but he looks like he could be fun:

Never heard of the guy then Ibe just seen that YouTube link. I think he could be the big surprise from this, seems to be funny and a bit cheeky with his presenting, he could be the one who goes on to do big things http://youtu.be/GPzkTKX_EXI
Am I the only one who is disappointed to see The Stig is still part of the line up? Its great to have a real driver putting the cars through their paces but I'd rather it was someone who could actually speak, show emotion and give useful feedback too. (I could add that I'd like to hear the cars' engines as well rather than whatever The Stig has on his in car entertainment)
Well that’s a turn up for the books, it appears I predicted Rory Reid getting this gig, check out this thread I started a wee while ago:
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
In it I was asking which you tubers deserved to get more recognition for the good work they were doing and Rory Reid was at the top of my list. I even mentioned later in the thread that he could transition very easily into TV.
I just need to focus these new found skills on predicting the lottery

I'm looking forward to it, the old format was successful but I think this could do quite well and will be interesting to see how many people take up Amazon subscriptions or whatever is needed to watch the old team in action. The old thing was all about Clarkson with Hammond and May as support acts, but it will be interesting to see how a few personalities emerge in this new line up. I'd say its got legs.
