Clarkson should have paid a large fine rather than lose his job for what he did. We should have got 2 more series and that was that.
Sorry but IMO that's totally wrong.

I am intrigued to know what other form of employment you can get that is legally allowed to fine you rather than handing the nationally mandated penalty of a P45 for beating up a fellow employee?

People are always blaming the BBC for this, the fault lies 100% with a tired old drunk who lashed out and got what he was due- there is no denying Clarkson knows how to make entertainment type TV but it was his own fault he was fired. There can be no debate about this surely?

Lastly the three of them where clearly getting tired, May had publicly stated he wasn't sure he would renew his contract, the writers where grasping at straws- frankly 2 more series would have been a stretch.

Just forget about the old trio and enjoy what Evans and Co produce, I'm pretty sure Harris won't last long if its drivel as his videos and content have been high quality for years, Sabine and Eddie don't need the work, Joey can clearly get work anywhere he wants and the new boy... ok well there has to be one potential victim, lets assume he'll be the scape goat :-)

He wasnt fired

I'd never heard of Rory Reid before the post above but he looks like he could be fun:

Never heard of the guy then Ibe just seen that YouTube link. I think he could be the big surprise from this, seems to be funny and a bit cheeky with his presenting, he could be the one who goes on to do big things
"Squircles, Squircles, Squircles!" He's going to be the star of the show!
I've never watched any of his videos before (or heard of him before today either boxedin) but as a 25 year old I'm instantly a fan. Let's just hope being on the BBC doesn't change his personality.
I just watched this, he's not boring and he doesn't across like many of the other youtubers..

Wow, there has been lots of things said here that took the words right out of me. So ill not repeat too much.

Can't stand Chris Evans: Aging 'wannbe' teenager.

Eddie Jordan: One reason I stopped watching F1. It's like a child with special needs, his opinions being interesting but, nonetheless, totally irrelevant.

Chris Harris: Happy to see on there. Top marks. along with Sabine.

I suppose everyones been waiting to see where top gear ended. I'm happy it went the way it did, instead of painfully oozing out. That revival started out not expecting to get anywhere. What got the show where it did was Clarkson. I think many people today are tiered of tuning into any form of media to hear how good something is, or how Chris 'bloody' Evans has had a fantastic weekend. Now this week broadcasting radio from his house because, "why not".
Clarkson spoke what he wanted, not through this veil that everyone does because "you can't upset some peace keeping walnut tribe in republic of my arse". I disagreed with a whole lot Clarkson has said and what he does, but while watching or reading something of his, it made me think. Instead of dribbling into my tea cup, nodding along to the same old tune.

Jesus that got a bit ranty!

So this new revival has potential. If everyone shows a bit or personality and opinions to shake things up. It engages the audience and I might actually start to like some of the presenters I don't.

What I don't get is that both Chris Harris and Sabine are both part time race drivers, both have done TV work or web specials....why have both on the same show? Sabine could do the job herself when driving fast cars and talking about handling. What is the Stig going to do with Sabine there....she may or may not be as fast as he is.

Eddie Jordan may be interesting...depends upon what he says. His contacts are useful and from a 'money' perspective he could be the new Quentin Willson.

Matt Le Blanc, WTF? His career isn't going anywhere.

I like the idea of car technology and explaining what a lot of this stuff is that we hear about, but would have rather had Rachel Riley or Suzy Perry to gaze at.

Chris Evans....the only available car person who will work for the BBC with any 'street cred'. I am to a fan and think he was the political decision with the organisation. He doesn't work on TV in my opinion, but what does one viewers opinion carry.

Will i watch the show....possibly. Will I watch it every week. NO.

Will i watch Clarkson etc, yes because the cars are not what the show is about, i is the banter, the filming, they way the three play off one another and it is all entertainment. if I want car stuff.....Petrolicious is excellent or some of the stuff on Turbo / youtube too.

Otherwise I like to read the usual magazines and blogs. Time more owners are asked about real world driving and ownership costs plus epic drives and modifications. Also talk to designers and people within the industry or historic specialists/ racers and restorers.

I was delighted to hear Rory got a place. There's some real talent there and he deserves a big break. How did he get just 70k views for this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd_6P_AQj6U

Diversity, innit!

Or more likely Sabine was recruited first, the new production team eventually discovered what the previous bunch already knew that she was OK in small doses, decided to 'replace' her but leave her in the line-up for the time-being so they could use the footage they'd already made.

They've probably got enough in the can that they can have her dabbing in and out for two series if it gets that far.

Personally I think it looks like a really interesting mix and I'm eager to see what they do with the program. I loved old TG but I did think it was time for a refresh even if Clarkson, Hammond and May were still the presenters.

Why are so many down on EJ? - Yes I watch him on F1 and some of the things he says are comical but I like him and most of what he has predicted with F1 has been pretty much spot on. TG obviously has a plan to use EJ's knowledge/charm (call it what you will) so for me I'm looking forward to seeing how it works out before condemning it as car crash TV!

It's a pretty underwhelming bunch but then I was never a fan of Hammond either and the show was in dire need of a refresh so it will be interesting what format they come up with.

How is it going to work then. A set of three different presenters every week? I can't imagine a show where they all get a piece without it being a bloody mess!!

Wow, that is the most refreshingly new car review i've seen since Clarksons "goodbye" to the V12 Vantage review of a few years ago!

I'm going to call it now - he's the best thing on the show. Let's hope there's still a Top Gear left by the time Chris Evans gets bored.

As others have said the world is changing. I now get my fix of car TV from Petrolicious and Lenos Garage - they really have set the bar high, entertaining, interesting and content is not dumbed down. Clarkson-May-Hammond will certainly be worth watching for the banter and because for most of us they feel like old friends.

I think it'll be a case of reserving judgment on Evans, it may be he comes up with something innovative - like the old Big Breakfast - or it may be rubbish.

Quentin Willson is well respected in the classic car world and promised a lot with the show he did last year, he also made much of the fact he had a full control over format, content and production, frankly though it was dire and at times cringeworthy.

I'd agree...

Though that sort of half rapping/half talking/rhyming thing isn't for me, at least its different and some real effort put in to make it all line up. I think, now I have seen more of him, that he will be the surprise of the show.
