Love Tom Hiddleston but he really ain't pulling off that bad boy role he's trying to portray in Devon.
It did jar somewhat. However I am enjoying it and wish it was bingeable. And yes, there was a dark red classic on the forecourt, something like a Ferrari 166 or Aston Martin DB2
Still a few barely credible scenarios, but it makes good viewing if you are prepared to suspend your pedantry.
The scene where the "cheated wife" told Pine about the arms deals, when theoretically she can't have known he was remotely interested, did jar a little.

It did feel a bit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpAj1kn-Cr8Binge watched three eps. It's ace, I love it.
In past 1/2 years the BBC had brought out some great programmes to sit alongside the top stuff from US or the continent for me. The Spy genre being a British staple, it's probably easier to go back to that and make something cracking like Tinker/Reilly/Edge.
Well done BBC.
Nice use of some underused actors too.
edit to add.
This is everything Bond should be in my opinion. A baddie who has real fking depth, an actual human being! Not a 1mm 2 dimensional fucing cut-out of a 'psycho', 'Oooo I'm so bad 'cas I'm bad' Dr Evil sort. Reminds me of that last real Bond baddie from Licence To Kill.

What is so odd about Laurie is that as a young man he was not especially good looking -or sounding. He was vaguely thyroid -eyed and generally lightweight , if excellent as people like Bertie Wooster. So where did the gravel voiced hunk appear from ?
For myself his 'British' accent was very similar to his HOuse effort. I reckon he's done the gravel-voiced one for so long it's affect how he speaks, it happens. Happens to Chris Bale.Orchid1 said:

Yes. But then again, TH is talented, and makes me wonder if he was playing a guy who was uncomfortable with that aspect of the job, or a starter, at being a bottle covey/head'th'ball.edit to add.

For a girl who lives the "jet-set" (showing my age there.....) lifestyle, scooting off to all places exotic, she seems a trifle pale. Does she never sunbathe?
Perhaps she does, but in a sensible manner so as to avoid skin problems in the future. Why was she in Roper's lair? (The stray hair...)
