Better than the last two episodes. It's as if they knew it was going in the wrong direction and consciously tried to go back to the original formula. We will see when the next one is transmitted.
The crap scripted banter between the pair of them needs to stop. "Gear down" bloody hell!

I thought that was a great improvement and much more like WD of old, even if the car was really nasty. However, it did end on rather a sour note; I couldn't decide if it was an insult to my intelligence to expect me to beleive a Fox-body beat a 429 Cobrajet '72 on slicks in the eighth mile or if I should just shrug it off as "storytelling" rolleyes

I liked it, I even liked the Car, I spent the hour after watching it looking for go-faster bits, the choice is indeed endless, you can can some monster power out of those engines for (relatively) little money. Super Chargers.....

Corvair on tonight. Quite liked the end result, buyer was a little strange though.

Last night's Corvair episode was pretty decent. They made a great job with the car and it seemed that Edd was back on his mojo again although Mike did do a bit more than he usually does with the interior. Would have to concur with the previous poster about the buyer. He did appear to be somewhat weird.

Much better episode again.

Interesting car and really nice job in the end.

Basically, its a great and informative series that tends to all automotive tastes and always with interesting technical subjects, some complex and some simple and useful like the SU carb overhaul and set up on that awesome Volvo.

Love or hate the format, you can't help but watch it. I've learned such a lot from this programme, and seen techniques, products and services I didn't know existed.

Like Car SOS, it raises our awareness of the smaller automotive support operations around the country, like the guys doing stuff in garages (e.g. Maserati guy), lockups and small units..

I enjoyed it. An unusual car but an icon in its own right and it turned out really well. Would I own one? If it was like that then yes I would. Loved the 60s ads they showed. At one stage in one of them I thought it was going to take offf and vanish into the ether. laugh

I enjoyed it. I liked Mike visiting the place that made the door cards & interior as much as I liked Edd's spannering (which, again felt a little rushed - it was a complete restoration and they barely scratched the surface on what they did).

Once again, Mike doing the interior felt a little incongruous although at least they spared us the pantomime of Edd pretending to be elsewhere - they just didn't give any contrived 'reason' and just let Mike get on with it. Whilst I'd have preferred them to cut that part down in preference to more Edd time, it was inoffensive.

I don't agree that the seller was weird - he was just Californian. smile

It seemed a bit oddly edited to me. Edd in particular kept referring to things as if he'd spoken about them previously when he hadn't.

It was as if they had had to cut it by ten minutes at short notice.

I've been enjoying the series, if only because its a welcome break from all the 'reality' shows the wife watches. Ed has been acting a bit wierd and it does seem a bit strange Mike doing things. I'm wondering if Ed has got a secret project that is going to revealed later in the series. He was working on a V8 at the start of last nights episode, which unless they've actually opened a 'shop' in Cali and it was a customers engine, so its either just acting or its for a different project. Also in the first episode I think it was, as Mike walks into the workshop Ed disappears with no real explanation carrying a box of bits so possibly for a secret project? But maybe I just like conspiracy theories?

It was nice to be back looking at oddball cars again. I never knew the Corvair existed and its always nice to see things that manufactures were trying before they all settled on making facsimiles of each other.

One thing that is annoying is the very American influence of 'Coming up' and 'Before the break', a - ruins any suprises that may be coming up and b- just wastes loads of potential Ed time.

No, I think you may be on to something here. Especially with the fact that they were at pains to point out Edd was working on a V8.

If they cut out the new comedy bits and 75% of the homo erotic trip in the finished car they'd have another few mins to show us more of the work going in to the car. They didn't show any of the work on the convertible roof for example.

And FFS stop this silly Mike the mechanic business, you don't see Ed trying to sell the car so why ion earth have they introduced this???

Yes and it looked like Mike didn't put on enough glue or didn't give it time to go off, seemed to be struggling to get it to stick, next shot it's all in place.

True. But they have replaced convertible roofs several times now. I don't think they needed to say much more than they did, which was that the frame was good and they were just going to replace the fabric.

A move back to the old formula a little which was good. I liked the finished car, great colour and the interior looked good.

I thought the buyer was probably a vampire with lots of suncream so he could be out in the day (ala near the end of Blade on the beach smile )

Enjoyed the Corvair. Was it a Corvair that Peggy Blomquist drove in the 2nd series of Fargo?

Indeed. I did find it amusing when he was thumping it. I was under the impression that contact adhesive needs steady firm pressure rather than sharp blows. smile

They only showed him spraying contact adhesive onto the carpet - none on the floorpan.
