I wanted to dig a little deeper on the wipers, so googled and very quickly hit on the Vette forums.
As expected, they did way more to the car than we saw (not really surprising as this is almost always the case) but still none the wiser about the wipers.

Also, the new owner answers some questions here:

Edit:
The new owner says the work they actually did was:
All new seals and gaskets in the engine, rebuilt the Holley carb, electronic ignition, new spark plugs and wires, new water pump and thermostat, fuel pump, new oil, air and fuel filter, new clutch and pressure plate, new 2.5" stainless exhaust with magnaflow mufflers, new gas charged shocks, new suspension bits as needed, rebuilt all 4 original calipers, new rotors and brakes, upgraded the cooling system with twin electric fans and high performance radiator, refurbished the rims, new tires, new battery, tilt steering column, repo steering wheel, I have the original one, it has a new convertible top and rear window, it comes with the hardtop, new vacuum servos for the headlights and windshield wiper cowling. And like Forest Gump says and that is all I have to say about that.
Edit2: Oh, and it looks like it was the whole wing that was repainted.
I know that they've covered this sort of thing before, but I'd still rather see engine work etc. rather than include 20 odd minutes of Mike and Edd sodding around in the desert. As expected, they did way more to the car than we saw (not really surprising as this is almost always the case) but still none the wiser about the wipers.

The problem is (IMO) that if the WD team go too far down the 'entertainment' footage route then they risk losing their core audience (might sound arrogant, but people like me who've watched the show from the very start and who LIKE WORKING ON CARS not footage of people arsing about in the desert).
If they lose the core fans, then they'll have to go even further down the 'scripted banter entertainment' route, and the next thing you know… bang! You are a version of Top Gear.
Please, Mike and Edd, for the love of cars (geddit?), can you concentrate on what makes your programme great: tinkering with cars.
There are many cars out there that have yet to be done, or could be re-done properly (Capri… hmmm?). You only have to look at the 'What cars should WD do next' threads which appear every so often on PH to know that there is genuine enthusiasm for the show.
Never thought I'd say this, but I'm getting bored with WD after this series… feels like I've lost an old friend.

One thing I do like from the later series are interesting little pieces where Mike visits a company that does a specific service, whether that be head work (fitting hardened valve seats, gas flowing, or whatever), fabricating springs, custom making exhaust manifolds, wheels, laser cutting, trimming, making fitted carpets, or whatever. I find them interesting an informative.

I noticed that Mike was sporting a polo shirt with a "Mike Brewer Motors" logo on it on a recent Wheeler Dealers. I'm surprised he was allowed to slip that little bit of advertising in - most Discovery shows will fuzz out logos and the like. exitwound said:
He's had that for ages, just opened another. Quite where he finds the time and energy for that and WD i dont know. I'd like several gallons of whatever he gets his energy from.threespires said:

From what I have seen so far, I do not think I will be buying the box set when it's released, and I have every single one
I heard that they once turned a Lotus Europa into a hovercraft but cannot find any info on it. Can you shed a bit more light on this episode? chris watton said:
Nothing like that in any of the WD.
Edd China did do a conversion of a Lotus Europa but it wasn't on Wheeler Dealers.http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Theres a couple of episodes in the new series that ive watched so far (I record all the episodes and watch them later and am a few weeks behind) particularly the Honda Civic and Chevrolet Luv episodes where Edd was absent for quite some time and Mike done a lot of work on the vehicles himself, any ideas why?

I wandered past Brewer's set up at the rwcent Silverstone Classic. As I did so, he mentioned to his audience that the new series is starting imminently. He wasn't sure of an exact date. But, end of August or beginning September.
He has also confirmed on Twitter that all the episodes of the upcoming series were filmed in the USA. Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
