Had the potential to be a great episode, could have made a decent 90 minute show, bit of shame so many things were just blown over. Not sure why they couldn't have swapped roles to hide the air con unit/legroom problem.

Lugging about thirty five stone did not help the acceleration.
Edd was in the car too :-)

Was it just me or did the guy Mike got the aircon from say it would be just under a grand, then at the end it miraculously cost $1950? Fitting it on one side of the dash set my OCD off.
Set mine off too. I reckon the unit was under $1k. The extra was the compressor and other bits I guess. I'd have rather spent the extra on tuning the engine.

The awful NTSC format makes it almost unwatchable on a proper PAL TV!
PAL Analogue was turned off in 2012, we use DVB-T (SD) and DVB-T2 (HD) now. As I mentioned to you on the other thread the US is now ATSC digital, NTSC analogue was mainly closed down in 2009 with the last few going in 2015.

Ah sorry. Makes sense.
So why is the picture quality so bad? It's the worst I've seen for years. It's flat, lacking depth and just weird looking. Like a very low bit rate or something.

Enjoyed this one as I didn't know much about the Volvo. Nice they tuned it up and used all the extra power for air con !

Bloody ugly unit inside too. Way too much of them dicking around at the end too, enjoyed the spannering as usual

I was a fan of Volvos. I've had a few so I knew a bit about the 544' Always liked it but have never ridden in one although seen a few at VOC meets. I think they look stunning.

Like you, I wasn't so stunned about the air con, nor the horsing around. Not enough detailed spanner work. The aircon unit just sort of arrived.

The carpets and door cards weren't included in the final costings, but they looked new.

So I was glad they picked a car I like, but sad that they didn't do it justice.

I was really bored by this episode. They spent more time buying the air con then they did installing it! Turned off in the end, I assume they made a few thousand profit and spent about 35 hours on it?

Honda CVCC tonight.

The engine stuff was quite interesting but the whole Hypermiler bit was boring.

Plus, I think Mike skelped the car off the kerb when out with the Hypermiler bloke.

I can't believe how dreary and Americanised they have made it. Hopefully the final 10 episodes will be back in some dreary English industrial estate.

With regards to the Honda. All the work they did to the engine was worthless as the car will never be driven again in the Honda collection.

Wtf. Mike was allowed to work on the car? On his own without Ed?

The drinking game rules must be updated! Finish drink.

Wonder if Honda removed Mike's handiwork with it not being OEM?

Plus random pub carpark find later sold to the manufacturer. About as believable as when they did the BMW bubblecar.

Still enjoyed it and its still one of my favourite things on telly.

46/45 psi in the front tyres and 44 psi at the rear!! eek
It's interesting that the temperatures were ~20 degrees at the back, 28 front left, but 36 degrees front right - binding brake there I recon, not good for fuel saving!

Started to watch it after Game of Throne to watch it on +1. Turned off after 5 minutes, dreary hateful little box.

They didn't strip and rebuild the engine or repaint the car themselves though. Those jobs were outsourced and the costs were included in the breakdown.

It was still a st episode though and I'm guessing the whole program was paid for by Honda USA.

True but did you see the price for the respray & don't forget they were welding & treating the rust patches themselves.

Your right it probably was paid for by Honda.
