First Freeview channel 71, now this. At the risk of 2+2=5 I get the feeling they might not be paying on time...
For the moment it can be added manually via the Services, Options, Add Channels menu with the following details : 11.082 H, 22.000, 5/6, DVB-S, QPSK.

"The reason, as of writing, is unknown but the channel disappeared from its channel 447 slot on the EPG at some point late this morning. Their Twitter has not yet commented on the situation, but Sky’s Help Team on the social networking website said that Motors TV are “no longer broadcasting on Sky”.
The removal from Sky follows the removal of the channel from Freeview via an aerial and YouView earlier this year, having been added in late 2014. Obviously it is concerning that the channel has been removed from two platforms in the space of two months. The main casualty of this, if contracts do not change, would be the World Endurance Championship who currently have some races broadcast exclusively live on the channel."

Not being on the Sky EPG does not mean that it is not being broadcast. Sky satellite's restrictive practices are a scandal that has been allowed to go on for years - disallowing recording of channels that can be picked up by their receivers but not on their EPG is nothing more than blackmail.
A one off-cost of a cheap non-platform specific satellite receiver with a USB socket for plugging in a hard drive or flash stick will get you back to being able to record it again.
The owners of MotorsTV are right to take a stand in that they are being seen as part of the 'package' of an organisation they pay to get on the EPG of only to then have their logo used on Sky's promotional material for no return.

So what about the fact its also been taken off Freeview? Is that Skys fault too?A one off-cost of a cheap non-platform specific satellite receiver with a USB socket for plugging in a hard drive or flash stick will get you back to being able to record it again.

It has not been taken off Freeview. It is still on the EPG and can be picked up with Freeview+ or Connnected TV receivers. The Motors TV Twitter person says you need the internet to get it.

Sorry, I saw this: https://twitter.com/MotorsTV/status/69455064762301... and assumed you could no longer get it on freeview.

You can't get MotorsTV on a freeview tv or via a freeview box, unless the freeview box or TV is directly connected to an internet connection. The Motors TV Twitter person says you need the internet to get it.

As a result, it can no longer be recorded unless you have a very clever box indeed.

It's no longer a broadcast channel - they've closed the channel 71 broadcast (but left the EPG data in place - bds!) and left the channel 240 streaming service which requires a stream-capable decoder with an Internet connection.

The potential audience just dropped like a stone. I have a 2011 Panasonic Smart TV and it can't decode the stream. Last time I checked the list of compatible devices numbered about 20...As a result, it can no longer be recorded unless you have a very clever box indeed.
Bit of a shame really. I'm part of a Virtual Sim Racing league and Motors TV broadcast highlights packages of the races last year, and have agreed to broadcast the upcoming season.

Stopped watching that a while back, never getting any decent stuff anymore.
The coverage has declined a bit over the last year or so and they REALLY need an HD channel, but it was good to see the Bathurst 12 hours and Daytona 24 Hours highlights this year (I'm pretty sure Bathurst wasn't covered at all last season).I don't watch it as much as I did (WRC is better on BT Sport in HD and ESPN cover the Indycars these days), but it's still good to have (I have Virgin and it was still there a couple of days ago!).
M.
Up here in rural Scotland Freeview coverage is pretty poor and the number of channels you can get is limited so Motors TV has never been available. Virgin is pretty much a City based service so we can't get that either. Sky 447 was then our only way of accessing Motors.......... Grrrrrr

They had WEC and Blancpain Endurance plus a whole host of other GT championships as a combination of live, delayed live and highlights.marshalla said:

It was never a broadcast channel on Freeview. It was internet streamed from day 1 of launch.Paul_M3 said:
So in essence I was correct when I said it had also been removed from Freeview then?
No.MagicBoyUK said:

The potential audience is completely unchanged. Convenience levels may have changed, but that is because customers' choice of service provider has made it difficult for them.Blaming MotorsTV for this is a bit like blaming the manufacturer of your favourite breakfast cereal because your nearest supermarket has decide to start stocking it on a shelf out of plain site and requiring a ladder to reach.
