It's no longer a broadcast channel - they've closed the channel 71 broadcast (but left the EPG data in place - bds!) and left the channel 240 streaming service which requires a stream-capable decoder with an Internet connection.
It was never a broadcast channel on Freeview. It was internet streamed from day 1 of launch.http://www.a516digital.com/2014/10/motors-tv-widen...
and now they've closed that down, losing all the viewers who could receive the broadcast but not the stream.
(awaits pedantic response that that still means it wasn't on Freeview, but Freeview HD

No.Ok, it was only Freeview HD tuners, but that's not streaming and it's not Sky.

It irritates me how so many people accredit channels that have nothing to with Sky to them just because the satellite receiver they paid seriously over the odds for is built to a Sky design, and they also happen to pay money to Sky TV to provide them with a load of encrypted channels - one of which isn't Motors TV. Clearly it irritated the owners of Motors TV too.Sky satellite broadcasting has been operating against the Conditional Access rules of European broadcasting since day 1 of their digital transmissions, but many attempts to tackle them over it failed (for all sorts of underhand reasons) and now hardly anyone bothers to take a stand against it, so credit to Motors TV for raising the issue once more.
PS. The Freeview HD broadcast channel for Motors TV was only available in a few transmission areas and was not officially part of the national Freeview network (meaning most of the country couldn't actually receive it that way) hence its withdrawal without warning. The official distribution method for the nation was the streaming service.
There is loads of cheap, easy to use equipment capable of receiving, recording and distributing Motors TV and other FTA satellite channels around your home. It just doesn't come supplied by Sky. Sky is not the beginning and end of satellite TV.

Yet Freeview continue to promote it as one of their channels : http://www.freeview.co.uk/whats-on/channels/catego...marshalla said:

They are slow at updating their website.A lot of the major Freeview transmitters never ever carried the broadcast signal.

That was clearly incorrect, as Freeview were keen on promoting it as one of their channels. (Even if not every single person in the country could get it)

The answer is still no.So how can I record motors now? Im obviously going to see if the situation resolves but if not I want to be able to record the coverage
Yes, Sky isnt the be all and end all but its convinient, ie Plug and play.... I havent the faintest idea how I would go about recording the channel now.....

For the moment it can be added manually via the Services, Options, Add Channels menu with the following details : 11.082 H, 22.000, 5/6, DVB-S, QPSK.

First Freeview channel 71, now this. At the risk of 2+2=5 I get the feeling they might not be paying on time...

How do you change the first number 11.082For the moment it can be added manually via the Services, Options, Add Channels menu with the following details : 11.082 H, 22.000, 5/6, DVB-S, QPSK.
Read all the stuff above and tried to manually add the channel on Sky but that doesn't work either. Luckily I have an old BT Youview HD box from an old subscription and have managed to get it to work on that.
Go to channel 240, wait for the RED button to appear and then when you press it you get a streamed version via your broadband connection - BUT you can no longer record it and I don't know how to get a programme guide.

Having manually updated the firmware on my TV, Channel 240 is now working for me.
Also managed to find a way to record it. Old school DVD/HDD recorder linked up via SCART with Q-Link. Set the recording via the Freeview EPG on the TV - TV streams it while in standby, wakes up the recorder and sends it down the SCART cable. Used it record the BSR programme this afternoon.

The answer is still no.You've even contradicted yourself in your own post. If you state that for the majority of the country it was only available as a stream, by definition you are stating that it was available for a huge number of people as a freeview channel. This freeview channel has now been removed.
It was actually available to anyone who could receive 5* (now called 5 STAR). If somebody says that 5* is available as a Freeview channel, would you argue that it wasn't???
You only have to Google "Motors TV Freeview" to get a huge amount of hits confirming it as a Freeview channel which ceased on 1st February 2016. (Including their own Twitter feed with people complaining and asking where it had gone). There are even people on this thread who are annoyed they've lost their Freeview access.
To be honest, I can't really understand how you could possibly be arguing otherwise.
