Car SOS - New Series 2016
Discussion
Fuzz Townshend, the mechanic in Car SOS, is quite a character - here's a link to his business:

He also played drums in the bands Pop Will Eat Itself & The Wonder Stuff.

Really looking forward to the new series. Fuzz is knowledgeable and entertaining and compensates for the rather annoying and superficial Tim. It seems that the format of these car makeover shows requires a decent bloke who does the oily stuff and an annoying one who, well, annoys. Wheeler Dealers and For the Love of Cars being further examples. Classic Car Rescue is the exception; Bernie and Mawio are both ts.
I enjoyed all the Mark Evans stuff, even he he had a sidekick Producer Pete, I watched with envy wishing like many I had the workspace, time, money and equipment he had. It takes the edge off a little bit when your lying on a cold concrete floor with cardboard to insulate your back and a 5 litre bottle with hot water for a headrest when struggling to fit a gearbox single handed in a Vauxhall Victor.
Good to have it back, loved the final result, and I also loved the end with Roger! (what a legend, he genuinely looked like he enjoyed it) just wish they'd drop the staged 'haggling' and [not]funny bits e.g. Tim being chased around the house by security etc. It's cringe and unnecessary on a show like that.
When it rolled out of the paint oven for the first time, the look on Fuzz's face was one I've not seen before in any episode. You could see he was totally bowled over by it, and smitten! Absolutely stunning.
Once again thought they had to take the gloss off it by doing a stupid "if I order 200 thousand" [not] funny skit half way through.

Enjoy this series and Fuzz is great on it, but why do they keep insisting on showing us they completely restore cars in 2 weeks?. Does anybody actually believe a full blown restoration can be done in that time when Westgate Classics own web site stats its takes anything from 500 to 1400 hours to complete such a job. This is something all these type of program's seem to do and its really annoying.
Suppose they are trying to appeal to a wider audience and add a bit of jeopardy into the mix but I would prefer it they didn't.

As others have touched upon, the ONLY thing wrong with this show IMO is the puerile 'Tim gets a good deal, ain't he a cheeky chappy' story lines they insist on showing.
I thought the design process and forming of that Perspex/Acrylic/whatever rear screen for the AC was pretty interesting - it didn't need a stupid backstory which, put frankly, insults my intelligence. Surely shows such as Car SOS are aimed at enthusiasts, not the sort of person who wants to watch a load of soap opera-esq bullst?
I wonder if part of the continued success of Wheeler Dealers is that they do not lower themselves to fake deadlines, staged arguments or infeasible stories?
I know that a car can't be restored to that level in 3 weeks, I know that labour (in the case of WD) is not accounted for in the final 'profit' and I'm willing to suspend my disbelief as I get to watch interesting programmes about cars… but please, don't treat the viewing public like idiots.
Anyway (climbs of soapbox), I thought the AC was simply stunning… old Fuzz definitely had a covetous look in his eye - wonder if he'll make the owner an offer?
