Car SOS - New Series 2016
Discussion
I can only add to the screams of "the wheels, the wheels" - rest of the car was lovely, it's a shame though that they couldn't go for a full engine rebuild, strapping an new turbo on an tired engine seems a bit of a waste, either way it might be a bit of a waste for him, he's not a fast driver it seems. I bet he's seen his share of horrible car crashes so I can understand why.
Still love the series, but like so many of these types of things to broaden the appeal each episode seems to be less spannering and more 'tragic back story' and Tim acting the 'full brewer'.

A Singer Le Mans was the car restored last night albeit not a full job as the paintwork was not resprayed due to time limitations. It still looked very good nonetheless. I have special affinity for this car as it was the first sports car I went in at the age of 6 courtesy of my uncle. He's now 102 and lives in Montana . Where the Le Mans is I have no idea.
Enjoyed the show as always, but I was a bit perturbed by what they did with the wheels.
I always thought that wire wheels had to be checked carefully, new spokes added and tensioned as necessary and then trued - not just given a lick of paint to pretty them up.
(Of course they may well have done this but decided not to include the footage).

That was exactly my issue with this episode. When they've done wire wheels on Wheeler Dealers they provided all new spokes.I always thought that wire wheels had to be checked carefully, new spokes added and tensioned as necessary and then trued - not just given a lick of paint to pretty them up.

Funny I thought exactly the same thing about the wire wheels and the place they took them too really did not look like a specialist in that type of wheel based on all the other wheels they had there. Maybe that's wrong but it looked like a placed that dealt in modern wheel refurb and I would just not expect such a place to know much about old wire wheels.
Anyway nice car though it was a shame they did not do the paint work as on the initial close ups it had a lot of flaws. It did look great when done but I wonder how it would stand up to close examination in the flesh. It just seems a shame to do all that work and not give it a fresh paint job. I don't really buy the time explanation so I wonder if there was another reason for not ding it. The whole limited thing is entirely contrived. Tim walking past the Volvo P1800 at one point gives the game away some what.

just watched the Astra GTE episode - loved it!!
Really nice to see a car that had all but dropped off my radar getting the SOS treatment, and as ever a proper touching back story.
Made me feel a bit old though, only 30 left on the road?! I remember when the white one up our street had its wheels nicked over night. First car I saw 'up on bricks'.

I do wish sky would stop sodding about with the schedules, the EPG showed tonights episode as the P1800 which is a repeat so i cancelled it
That's odd as Sky had it down as a Mini Cooper S which it was. It's available on Sky Demand and its repeated several times. Great rebuild but Tim Shaw's blagging of parts is really starting to grate. Next week they have a 65 Mustang and are revisiting some of their previous ventures. Is there going to be another series?Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
