Yes I enjoyed the Mini episode. I was a bit confused as the rear lights went from Mk 2 back to Mk 1 with apparently no work, but I suspect it had already been reshelled as probably wasn't a Cooper S in the first place (I know, there were twin cutouts for the fuel tanks). Also the car didn't have the chrome trim around the door windows.

As I live nearby I hope to see that car around sometime.

Another good episode, really enjoyed it. Head and shoulders above WD at the moment and that mini shell looked stunning when Fuzz had it on the ramp partially rebuilt. Nice reaction from the guy during handover. Never was a Mini fan but definitely leaning towards them now!
My mates back in the day all used to desire a Cooper S, I was more inclined to Anglias or Cortinas as they were easier to work on and you could mix and match so much from other Fords, Fiats etc at the local breakers to make them fly..

..but, lately at car shows, Ive been scoping old Mini Coopers and even got a trip in one which scared me even more than they did 40 odd years ago, and they smell great too!! Want one, but those Cooper S prices are scary too!!

I do wish sky would stop sodding about with the schedules, the EPG showed tonights episode as the P1800 which is a repeat so i cancelled it smash
That's odd as Sky had it down as a Mini Cooper S which it was. It's available on Sky Demand and its repeated several times. Great rebuild but Tim Shaw's blagging of parts is really starting to grate. Next week they have a 65 Mustang and are revisiting some of their previous ventures. Is there going to be another series?
Yeah, i downloaded it in the end, good episode, definitely enjoying this way more than WD currently, although could still do with a little more Fuzz doing his thing rather than Tim acting the bellend.

Fuzz Townshend, the mechanic in Car SOS, is quite a character - here's a link to his business:

He also played drums in the bands Pop Will Eat Itself & The Wonder Stuff. smile
And Bentley Rhythm Ace.

Should team up with Ed China and make a proper car nerd version of their shows!

Good idea as that would free up Brewer and Shaw to host TG. Well couldn't be much worse than the recent offering laugh

Shaw did Fifth Gear, briefly.

Not Fifth Gear's finest hour I seem to recall.

I thought the Mk1 GTE looked fantastic in the unveiling. 30 left ? more than that, surely. The BMW too, although I wonder how much of it resembles a patchwork quilt, sections like the rear window lip should really be made in one piece instead of 3" strips. Look at what this guy is doing with the scuttle for example : http://www.trifivechevys.com/showthread.php/3622-w... His work is absolute top quality.

On the MG one whats with making a big deal about re-using an old, screwed engine mount ? its just an old rubber disc, why not use/make a new one ? I wouldn't be advertising that as a good idea. It does make me wonder what other stuff we don't see.

Like others, I find the continual "Tim acting a dick" routine is stupid and annoying, does he really need to yank the handbrake every time he pulls up at a supplier? If they spent less time showing him acting the idiot they could show more of the car and work being done.

I haven't seen it mentioned, but I assume Phil who works/worked there has fallen ill ? he was in the BMW episode in a wheelchair.

The mx5 episode I was less than impressed with along with the st wheels it went from having the import number plate panel to the uk spec one and the turbo conversion with that kit is pointless with just 170bhp they claimed it had.
Also as they used the standard afm which is not needed with any sort of custom ecu with megasquirt or me221 im guessing it retained the standard ecu with retarded ignition timing.

There was also lost of little things which were wrong as well not there finest hour that one.

You get the added bonus with Car SOS of trying to guess what's going to be wrong with the owner

I've had a quadruple bypass but unfortunately my car is still in full working condition after 11 years. You never know though, one of us could take a turn for the worse. Must get the wife to watch Car S.O.S. just in case.

I'm curious as to how they fund this show, having just watched the 2002 episode on catch up. I accept that they don't pay for the car, but a lot of work and time goes into the restorations. Is Fuzz doing it for the publicity it brings his 'shop?

Sell it to the networks, like most shows?

Well clearly they make more selling the show than they spend on producing it. It's run for a few series's now so it's obviously paying it's way. I doubt the cost of restoring the cars is actually very significant relative to normal TV production budgets.

Well that was a surprise, I generally hate it when Wheeler Dealers, Fast n't Loud or the like do a cheap end of series 'clip show' but last nights Car SOS was really good.

I had exactly the same thought. I wasn't going to watch it, yet really enjoyed it. Car SOS isn't perfect (still too much silliness that adds nothing. Tim finding out how stuff works is just as interesting) but has managed to pick up the best bits of most of these restoration shows and do its own thing.

I liked it, too. At least they made the effort and included mostly unseen and/or new material, unlike WD which is just a cheap rehash of bits from the previous series.

Enjoyed the recap show aswell. What's not to like if it's got a 60's Mustang fastback in it??
