Removal of 997 turbo cd Changer
Discussion
Has anyone removed the front boot mounted CD changer in the 997 turbo (or any other 997 4 wheel drive, as I guess they are the same?)
My changer has what appears to be a common fault, where the car doesn't recognise a magazine is fitted. I already have a repair lined up, but the changer appears to be a total pain to remove according to rennlist and 6speedonline. It looks like amp, nav and all surrounding trim needs to be removed and I think this is beyond me.
That is unless, someone else can tell me other otherwise, and its easier then I will have a go myself. I just don't want to start something I cant finish, and end up costing me even more than paying someone else to do it in the first place.
I know I can go aftermarket with an ipod connection but I want to keep the car totally original.
thanks.

I installed a CD changer in my 987 Cayman many years ago; I assume the 997 trim is not a lot different to remove.
It did involve removing trim but took me less than an hour from start to finish.
I used the PDF here;
