I agree, I haven't watched this week's and won't bother. I follow this thread to see if there has been any deaths, or shagging.

All this moaning and nit picking and you all still watch it! Turn it off if it's that crap. Personally I quite enjoy it for what it is - entertainment, they can't just leave them on their own for a month and return to pick up the bodies! I would love to see 16 PH alpha males put on there with no help, I predict the outcome would be very much the same.
Speak for yourself
Half the people on the programme have very high opinions of themselves as well, that turned out well. Anyone who refers to themselves as an alpha male probably isn't.

I think you have to forgive the editing. A programme of this nature must be a bit of a nightmare to put together, as real life rarely falls into a satisfying narrative structure. They need to create stories from the footage they have, and pace it over the duration of the series, so there's bound to be plenty of inconsistencies.

If it were just broadcast as a chronological series of events it just wouldn't make good TV. People need beginning-middle-end plots and subplots. They also need characters that evolve to latch on to.

I think the reality of TV means some liberties have to be taken with the edit for the sake of making watchable telly.

I wouldn't say I have a high opinion of myself or am an "alpha male", but I can guarantee I would not be as hungry, tired or depressingly st as any of them.

I was just pointing out that I don't think you'd know how you'd cope unless you did it. I'm pretty certain we all underestimate how hunger can affect you and how demoralising a two day rain storm without shelter can be, I don't think you can just state that you'd find something to eat and that's that, I get the impression they all had that opinion before they got there.

You have made an interesting point. I bet lots of us have had to plod round some shopping mall for hours on end with the OH, and gone way past usual lunch time and the hunger pangs have started. Wimmin just don't understand - I know I used to have rows all the time with my OH as the desperate need for sustenance kicked in. It does make you wonder what "real" hunger is like.

All depends on what background you have I guess.

I agree.
The hunger, the heat, the smell, the grime, the fking mozzie bites, not to mention all the other things eating, biting and stinging you.
Then there is dealing with people one doesn't know. Just look at ph/this thread, it wouldn't be a logical democracy at all, it'd be people always thinking their way is best.
I couldn't handle the heat/bites so I will never consider this show, I'd fancy a go at an ice one, but I doubt that would happen since it's way too dangerous for the untrained. biggrin

You seem quite hostile. Why is that? I am not sure why you seem to disbelieve me?

Not hostile at all, of course I believe you, why would someone make something like that up?! Just relax.

What have you done similar to the show?

I saw this programme and was left thinking they are a bunch of morons.

Is this series worth watching? I got to the part where the boys & girls met, and all but one of the girls was single rolleyes

Seemed like manufactured drama when I fancied a survival experiment with normal people.
