Roz the plumber didn't lose much weight. Maybe she had a secret stash of Mars bars.

I did notice that.

I dont think they did very well this year.
Last time round both camps had I fairly sorted by the end, reliably getting food had a proper camp setup etc this year look like they just managed to survive.

I wonder if its easier to be in this situation as an individual or a group.

On the one hand you have many people to chip in and do stuff but on the other hand a lot more needs doing and you need a lot more water and food. Thn you have the flip sides of struggling being alone or ending up in a big bhfest.

I nearly cried laughing when Simon broke the bow hehe I dont even know why he shaved it and weakened it. I used to make bows and arrows as a kid and we just used a branch and some string and that was enough to fire bamboo cane arrows across a 50ft garden, Ed Stafford did the same and it was enough to embed the arrow in a tree.

You're kidding right?

The women last year couldn't start a fire, make shelters or find sufficient food (all being weighed during show and blood tests). Also they cocked up preserving those pigs that literally were on a platter.

The men did quite well last year with a water filtration system, but they also lost a lot of rotting fish.

As a group they've done significantly better this year.

The blonde who kept talking filth? She seemed like a right bag of dirty spanners!

Watched episode one of the US show. "Your a good patriot." "Dont tell me to shut up"

There was an episode on last night with behind the scenes footage and discussion of events from the series - everyone said there was literally zero libido after the few few days, and your body goes into survival mode with little concern for anything besides food, water and shelter.

Yeah, I have only seen the first episode and it was pretty funny. Dare I say it, they achieved more in that first day than the Brits managed for weeks!

As the groups were together this year, it's hard to compare directly but the woman's group last year was utterly woeful. The women this year did come over as more competent but then again, maybe it was the utterly crap performance of the men this year that made the women look better in comparison. The men's group last year was much better.

It was pretty obvious that the producers were having to literally serve their 'wild' animal catches up on a plate in order to keep the numpties fed, even from early on. And despite being given a net (sorry, magically 'finding' a net) they didn't seem to catch any decent amount of fish at all other than that small shark which mysteriously showed up all on its own in the net on the first night they set it. Last year the men were catching loads all the way through. Of course, that could all be editing and they may have been catching enough to get by but the producers wanted to have a narrative of constant famine to keep the viewers interest.

you seem to forget that this series the women were poisoning themselves with obviously bad water before the men turned up, and in a real situation would have killed themselves in about a week.

The program on last night explained this was apparently due to El Nino which caused the local fish population to migrate further north.

And let's not forget the extremely tame piglets from last season. Atleast the Turkey put up a fight!

The caiman was pretty convenient too. If they'd had any sense they could have looked for it near any pool or swampy ground - they "found" it on dry ground in the jungle. They kept searching for food in the wrong places.

I was wondering about that. It seemed strange that the fishing net was only used once, the traps were only used to catch one turkey and the caiman appeared when it did - why didn't they set the traps and net most days. Thought they might have done better fishing, I don't recall anything being caught on the line and last year there was the guy pulling some out most days and kept everyone going.

I still enjoyed it.

Couldn't be bothered with the last ep, hough I did watch the round up ep. Which did explain a lot of things.

It was hard hearing the fat guy had had only one poo the entire time he was on the island.
