I listen Planet Rock these days.
Planet Rock is alright but they do keep trying to plug some awful new bands which bores me stless. The trouble with me when it comes to rock music is that most tracks I either love or hate like today they played tracks by U2 and Guns n Roses which I hate but then played a gem by Steve Miller Band called Swingtown where's if I'm listening to Solar Radio which plays soul/jazz even the tracks I'm not over keen on I can put up with.
One genre of music I hate is indie especially all that crap from the 90s like Pulp,Oasis and Blur, no wonder they they never made it in America, absolute crap.
Amazon prime is v good for what you need - you just pick a "channel" - I've "Classic Hard Rock" on at the min. You can like or dislike a song - if you like it, it keeps it in the playlist and adds songs like it, if you dislike, it stops playing it instantly and removes it from your playlist.
Classic Rock is another radio station i quite like.

lordy if ppl don;t like a DJ switch it off ffs.
there's plenty of choice out there.
I like radio 2 alot because of the variety of music and the live slots, but I can't stand jazz and I'm not into folk music so I don't listen to that bit....
its pretty simple really.
where else could I get joe bonammassa as album of the week and adrian lester as guest on the same day??? i'm not keen on Elaine Paige - her laugh is very annoying and I'd personally allow Liza Tarbuck to run headfirst into a wall but they have just recruited micahel ball into sunday mornings and he seems very genuine...
I cannot stand commercial radio - Leeds has Radio Aire and its fecking awful - if they play groove is in the heart or I'm a dreamer one more time I swear I'll firebomb the place. its cheap and it has adverts.
I honestly think with radio 5 live included, bbc radio is pretty much the best thing they use the licence fee for
I have a strange respect for Michael Ball, I think he'd be a proper laugh from things I've seen him on. there's plenty of choice out there.

His cameo on Toast of London as Andrew Lloyd Webbers debt collecting henchman was superb, he'd make a cracking villan on something like Lockstock!
Back on topic though, I used to listen to Mayo on a long drive home from Newbury to Kent everyday, I thought the show was good, confessions was always funny.
Occasionally I'd leave early on a Friday and have to endure Serious Jockin though, it was like a cheese nightmare from the 80's filled with awfulness, random scratching stabs and helicopter gunships etc. Appalling. As soon as my crappy Alfa radio could pick up LBC halfway down the M4, over it went.

Mayo's good but that sports sidekick he has on with him is a massively irritating tosser when he starts getting all strident and opinionated.Sparky137 said:
However, what the article does do is paint a picture of a man with some serious self esteem issues, probably more to do with his size and general appearance more than anything else.
He certainly will have if he reads this thread. I'm certainly no fan and his show is corny and irritating but he's hardly a bad person, let's keep this in perspective.MarshPhantom said:
I don't listen to Radio 2 much, when I do it's Wrighty. Mayo is doing the same show as he was 30 years ago but people don't seem to mind that.
Evans is a and Vine wants shooting.
I used to like Sarah Kennedy too.
We need a "Confessions" thread on here. I don't have anything to confess though Evans is a and Vine wants shooting.
I used to like Sarah Kennedy too.

You like listening to post-menopausal women telling you about their cats, how they had to "stop for a widdle" on the way to the studio and tales of their latest grocery shop in "Sainsbugs"?There are websites for people like you, usually with premium rate phone numbers attached.

It is as though it is forever 1977- loathsome . Ratcliffe and Maconie on R6 Music are better in every way- funny , hugely knowledgeable about music and genuinely likeable .Choice of music is as eclectic as it is enjoyable. Love the show ...
Takes all sorts I suppose. I just can't get past Ratcliffe's constant Bruce Forsyth-style emming and ahhing, plus there seems to be a very poor ratio of music to what they seem to think is hilarious banter. Though that might be me. Blackpuddin said:

Scheduling Radio 2 can't be easy.
Radio 1 has to appeal to 16-25 year olds or so.
Radio 2 has to appeal to 25-100 year olds.
There probably isn't much of a crossover in the musical taste of a 30 year old and an 80 year old.
Which is whay there is 6Music for those aged 25-45.Radio 1 has to appeal to 16-25 year olds or so.
