Feltz - on too early for anyone to listen, thank god

Evans - I like him, not a popular consensus on PH but I do

Bruce - tolerable in small doses, jokes wear thin - couldn't listen every day

Vine - ugh, just....awful. Switch over as soon as I hear his irritating voice

Wright - becoming intolerable. Same st every day. Singing along to songs, faux laughter. Annoying

Mayo - quality, i like him, it's a good show

People after 7pm - does anyone really listen?
Saturday isn't too bad, I quite like Graham Norton and really like Dermot o'Leary.

As others have said above, the most infuriating thing Wright does is sing along in the middle of songs or make inane derogatory comments in the middle of ones he doesn't like. If you don't want to play the songs Steve, go and get another job or at least tune out during ones you don't particularly like until they have finished, some people might actually enjoy the songs.

^ That's an old Radio 1 affectation. A throwback to the "home taping is killing music" BS back in the 80s.

The publicity photo on the BBC main website seems a little removed from reality...

By far and away the best thing on Radio 2 is Johnnie Walker's 'Sounds of the 70's'.

Jimmy Young was orders of magnitude better than Vine.

Other than JW's Sunday slot, I listen to Planet Rock these days.

I dislike the Steve Wright show because he rarely tells you what the track he has played is or the artist. I get the impression he feels he is more important than the music he plays, as mentioned his stupid voice overs not playing the full track. It almost comes over as an insecurity issue.
One thing about John Peel, J. Walker and Bob Harris regardless as to whether you liked the music they played is that they always told you what the track was and the artist, you got the impression they were listening to and enjoying the music they played by not talking over it or doing exactly what Steve Wright does.

I'm amazed anyone still listens to him, I'd rather give myself a heart bypass using only a blunt penknife and a cracked shaving mirror ....no sod that I'd be better giving Steve Wright a heart bypass using just the blunt penknife.

I don't listen any longer the only time I did listen to the radio was when I'm travelling in my car, I actually turn the radio off now and listen to made up CD's of my favourite music at least it's uninterrupted apart from the odd recording glitch.

Quite a lot of R2 shows operate like that now....it's to steer you towards the website where everything is listed, or to go digital with a scrolling display to tell you what's playing at the time.
(Love the show)

Mayo is pretty good, I like his style, pretty funny little quips and decent music bar the bloody Muppets which is getting old. Wright is just a tt, I will not listen to his self obsessed, self loving and frankly pathetic attempt at 'jockin'. that along with his cringe worthy side kicks are too much.

Evans is just too hyper some days...

I like the way Ken Bruce gets annoyed with people on pop-master when they're clueless. rofl

Agree he is head and shoulders above all the others.

I cannot stand the man. Especially his 'singing'. For a guy of serious financial means (£440k p.a apparently) he is one scruffy, sorry looking individual.

How I managed a reply about Steve Wright without swearing is baffling to me, 'cause when I stumble upon one of his shows I get very creative in that department !

I really don't get R2s demographic sometimes. They're currently doing a big puff with loads of adverts in Evans show for an exciting new series - "reliving the music of the fifties!" Bloody hell - my mum was too young to be in to the music of the fifties and she's about to turn 70! What percentage of their listenership do they think are going to be excitedly tuning in for this? (Or asking the care home nurse to retune the radio for). Friday nights is another one - now what you could be doing there is having a fantastic retro dance music show - from Disco up to the 90s - lots of classic Friday night tunes for the generations that grew up with it. Instead there's some decrepit old fart who sounds like Tommy Cockles from The Fast Show who plays organ music and showtunes from Rogers and Hammerstein. It's bizarre

Err, switch off or tune to another station? It's easily done.

Well.... the obvious inference is that I DO listen to something else and the list above are the reasons why....

It all went downhill when they moved Nigel Ogden and "The Organist Entertains" from an hour long slot at 19:00 on Tuesday to a half hour snippet at 23:00 on Thursday.
It's so niche it's cool.
