I hope I'm not going mad here. I'm a full time R2 listener and over the last week, I'm sure it's sounded like some songs they play have skipped - like personal cd Players used to. I don't think it's the car as the dialogue is absolutely fine, it's just the songs.

Has anyone else heard this or am I just going loopy?

Yep, listen to it on the commute and it definitely skips.

In the car, on regular FM frequency rather than DAB (don't have that in the commuter). Noticed it probably three times last week.

Me too. Thought I was going mad because FM shouldn't skip so it must be their source material. I've noticed it several times of late.

Noticed it last night again at the start of a song on the drivetime show, this was shortly before I fully appreciated how annoying the stand in DJ chap is, and turned over to have a shout at the news on R4.

I've noticed this over the past couple of weeks when listening to Radio 2 in the car. It only happens during the music, never on the DJ stuff in between. It is getting to the stage where the music "jumps" for a split second a few times during each song. All the other stations I listen to are not affected.

You would be the lucky one if it skips Steve Wright completely

Ahh, good, it's not just me then wobble.

I assume they play all their music digitally off a server somewhere, they really need to sort out whatever software/hardware they're using as it's really not good.

Happens down here in Hampshire too. Not all the time but quite often.

phew . thought it was me mis hearing it.
dont know if it's location based but it happens to me when I'm on the M4, between Swindon / Reading. By then I give up and stick a cd on.

Most of the Music is stored digitally on a server so it could be a Bad disk. Might be they haven't noticed it as they will be quing up the next item.

There's some theory on another forum that it could be to do with the RDS retuning but as others have said I only notice it during music.

Anyone get this when listening on DAB or Freeview?

Certainly notice it on FM, can't comment on any other service. Doesn't just happen during music, I've heard it when a DJ is speaking. It's easier to detect during music due to the constant beat.

I listen overseas va Tinternet and have not noticed it either with Tunein radio, or iPlayer.

However one thing that often bugs me is old tracks where half the sound is missing. An example being Elinor Rigby you can hardly hear the vocals, just the string quartet. Same sort of thing happens with Waterloo Sunset.

I have written emails to complain but only receive generic twaddle as replies. My guess it is something that only happens with digital output and cannot be heard by their engineers.

Thank god! Me and a mate have also noticed this for a long time, over FM. Radio 1, too.

I think I'm correct in saying that the vocals in Eleanor Rigby are only on one of the stereo channels. It could be that the source you're listening to is mono, so you're not getting the vocal channel.

Glad it's not just me then!

Have noticed it a lot over the last couple of months when driving Lincs to Leics in the morning and the same in the evening on the way back.

It happens on everything. This morning it was during the live performance by Sophie Ellis-Bexter as well as the 8.30am and 9am news bulletins.

Only notice whilst driving though and we only use FM not DAB in the car.

Maybe the two RDS transmissions are slightly out of sync when it switches between them?
