What were those British films that used to play on Saturday morning kids shows at the cinema? They later went on to be shown on children's telly at about 5pm on a Friday. The ones where the pesky kids solved the mystery etc. They always had some good life lessons in them
Childrens Film Foundation. My fav was The Glitterball.Interesting idea.
My kids are 23 and 19 and I can honestly say I don't really have a lot in common with them film taste wise.
My son (the younger) loves Marvel and the ilk - I can tolerate Iron Man...
My daughter seems to have the attention span of an ant where film or TV are concerned - The only films we've seen together in the last few years are the Bond films.
I'd like to say :
Memento
Saving Private Ryan
1984 (The John Hurt one)
Lawrence of Arabia
The American
The Prestige
Glory
Gladiator
Aliens
Star Wars (original trilogy - They did enjoy those as youngsters)
Rush
Harvey (If only because, even as a kid, it's the only film that reduced me to floods of tears).
Airplane & Naked Gun films (all of them!)
Point Break (the Reeves one, not the recent abomination...)
Leon (although it's not aged well, in my view).
The Long Good Friday & Mona Lisa
and plenty of others mentioned by others (Chariots of Fire, the original Jurassic Park, 2001/2010, Schindler's List - although I'd always say read the book, and on and on)
...but I doubt they'd really enjoy many of them!
Realistically, they'll find their own classics, which probably won't be the ones we valued.
