I think Bill would have soothing words to say about the presidential race; he'd love ol' Trump and and the evangelical right, and I suspect he'd have a similarly dim view of Mrs Bill Clinton.

Bill's material really darkened after Clinton became president. He realised that nothing changes - here comes the new boss, same as the old boss.

If he'd lived, what would he have made of another Bush in the White House, another war in Iraq, and another Democrat hopeful in the White house? And, of course, yet more stty music in the world.

He would have made of it, what we all make of it. We are all sick and tired of all that bullst.

I can't watch him any more. His material's been mined to death now and every word is familiar. It's rather like listening to Nevermind. It was so burnt into my brain as a yoot there's no point in revisiting it any more.

I think the one thing he might have a positive view about would be the US's rapid conversion to funny cigarettes; he'd have been a good guest on 'Getting Doug with High'.

I've tried to understand the masterpiece that is Bill Hicks but every time I watch anything its just a chain smoking fat man with a potty mouth not saying anything particularly funny if at all that satirical in the scheme of things. To me he is the Space Odyssey of comics...

Fat man? Are you sure you're watching the right person? He wasn't a gym bunny for sure but hardly John Candy either. A lot of his material has become fodder for more mainstream comics, albeit watered down and less sweary. Dennis Leary became famous largely through being a Bill Hicks tribute act. It also needs to be borne in mind that he became well known in the late 80s and stopped performing in 1993; that's 25 years ago and unless you are old enough to get the references a lot of the political stuff will be meaningless.
