Seen the first three - 1st one was great (Rubicon Trail), second one was so-so (America Vs Europe) and the third one was good (24 hrs of budget racing). I prefer it to old Top Gear UK. I wonder how it will rate compared to new Top Gear UK.

Probably better; originally TG US directly copied the UK format and suffered as a result. When they focused on the entertaining part (the challenges), it turned into a more entertaining show (for me it was better than Clarksons show at that point).

Didn't realise it had started again, ta for the heads up!

Think the USA show and its challenge focus is the way the new Clarkson version is going - it'll work and sure to be popular. Hopefully Chris Evans realises that base is covered and he takes New Top Gear down the path of more car review focus - like how the 80s Top Gear was - but without grey suits and nice knitwear of Chris Godfrey.

Welcome back Adam, Tanner and Rutlidge - we have missed you.

I'm guessing you stopped watching after 1 or 2 episodes. It improved. Massively.

There were some genuinely stand-out TG USA shows - particularly the pick-ups in Alaska, and again in Iceland. Mostly I liked the interaction between the hosts which, although it was obviously written for effect, was far less silly than the UK guys.

I shall be wearing my eye patch and parrot this evening.

It seems so, I love the focus of the US series, always preferred it to the UK one once they found their feet and concentrated on the adventures.

In your opinion.

My opinion is that the USA one is the best of all the Top Gears.

I have to say I think TG USA is really good - actually more enjoyable than the last 3/4 series of the UK TG. They just have one challenge every week, they seem to have real chemistry and its well filmed.

I watched the first 2 series' on telly but only last week started on series 3 or 4 i cant remember, Viper/Maclaren/Lambo across America + trying to find America's toughest car which was slightly different to this country.... using shotguns and explosives!

I do enjoy them and think the presenters work well together!

The chemistry between the presenters took a long time to form - the original format of the show was a direct clone of the UK Clarkson Top Gear of the time (as was the Aussie version) and felt pretty woeful and forced .. a bit like the current UK Evans Top Gear in fact.

However, once they ditched the studio-based format and just went to a each show being a full challenge (with the occasional car review that linked to the theme of the challenge) it got a lot better, and over time the three US presenters have really seemed to gel and find their own presenting styles.

It was more consistently good when compared to the final few UK Clarkson Top Gear series, though when Clarkson and mates were on top form (an infrequent occurrence in those final series) they were untouchable.

Has anyone on the main Top Gear thread read this comment?

I watched the first 6 of the new series (except ep5 which was corrupt - try again tonight)... and confirm that it's way better than the UK version.
