I think people are being far too negative about it all the points are to some degree right, it needs more "content", the presenters need to loosen up and find there own way etc.

But it is still a massive improvememnt on TG 2014 and 2015!

Just hoping it all means that Clarkson gets his ego back under control and the 3 amigos produce a decent show which is more than just a vehicle for them to just see what they can get away with.

I thought extra gear was really good. Chris (not Gordon) Ramsay was funny, Rory Reid and Chris Harris worked well, and seemed far more natural than the guys in the main show. I did think Matt Le Blanc was surprisingly good though.

Yep with $250m in the budget for 36 episodes that's bound to happen.

As mentioned, the 2.7 / 10 on IMDB speaks volumes.

How many volumes does the 8.2/10 speak about the most recent episode of Mrs Brown's Boys? Sopranos quality?
Dunno bruv. But the 2.7 suggests that they think the CE TG is a big pile of wk.

Old tg was not really a car program, it worked because you could often forget it was scripted as the easy flow between the cast really worked.

New tg creaked. Chris did not have anywhere near the same relaxed banter with Matt. Maybe it will ease in, but I think Evans needs at least another member to bounce off, if not two and drop Matt.

His fact tweeting needs to be seen in the light of people watching to see what is was like, it's the next two shows that will show its initial success, we know that.

Not for me, mainly because of wooden delivery, and let's face it, it was running out of steam anyway.

Hardly surprising that a bunch of smart arses trying to stick it to the man by not paying their television licences are regurgitating what they read in the Daily Mirror about Jeremy Clarkson like it's all fact. They never watched the show but know it was rubbish and Jeremy Clarkson was racist despite the fact their Facebook timelines consist mainly of shared Britain First posts.

Agreed, although the Hello magazine bit with Sabine didnt work for me at all

In fact with the benefit of some good old fashioned internet prejudice and with absolutely nothing to back up my opinion TG could well have a future if they binned Evans and Schmitz and let Harris, LeBlanc and Reid just get on with it, those 3 just seemed more genuine to me

30 million people watched Diana's funeral.... doesn't mean it was any good.

What an absolute moron. People only watched the first episode to see what it was like. Guarantee the figures will be WAY DOWN for ep 2.

I watched Top Gear and Extra Gear. Rory is the best presenter of the lot. Very impressive. LeBlanc was o.k. and hopefully with time will be less wooden. Harris was good in the driving review but too argumentative on the sofa. Evans was too much - way too shouty. Sabine is a good driver but not a good presenter.
If I was trying to whittle the group down I would choose Rory, Harris and LeBlanc. But I also have no knowledge of the creative process and somebody I dismissed could have written all the good stuff.

Those tweets are very inadvisable. He seems to be going for the 'all publicity is good publicity' angle!

Good luck to him. It took big balls to take it on. The real problem was allowing the focus of the programme to move from cars to celebrities.
