Why does CE dress like a bloody tramp. A crappy old yellow T-shirt with a stretched neck, underneath the sort of jumper you'd wear for diy jobs.

And why does he insist on tucking his jeans in his boots...?

Well, I just watched it.

Maybe I was just in the wrong mood, but I found most of it all rather soulness and by-the-numbers. The cinematogaphy was undeniably all there, it looked lovely, had superb direction and production, and it ticked all the boxes of Top Gearness, but it all left me rather cold and detached.

Apart from the Jaguar piece with Rory. Of course it was stage managed, of course he didn't arrive with less than 10 mins to go, rip all the cameras off, and then drive on just at the right moment. And yet it still managed to build tension and draw you in and get you invested. So they got that bit right.

The old vs new RR bit was fairly pants and I gave up and started fast-forwarding when they found the female Irish dancers.

Edit: Should have said that I also enjoyed the first part of the RR bit, with just MLB. His laid back delivery suited the car perfectly. But the bit back at the studio was simply awful.

I enjoyed that - the RR segments were really well shot.

It's odd how many posters are watching something they claim not to like!
Same with old Top Gear, except that it had been around for 22 seasons. At least with this one you have an excuse of giving it a chance.

I gave up as a regular viewer after EP1, and will just drop in for anything I'm particularly interested in.

Chris Evans not very good
Le Blanc better than I ever expected
Chris Harris too try hard. Rory neither good nor bad, I enjoyed the Jag bit but I think it could've been the gravitas lent by Norman.

Stars and Rallycross was rubbish and look at all that mud all over the Stig's proper circuit.

Evans Roller has a Brexit number plate! what foresight!
I came on here to say that. Coincidence theres a programme full of British cars and then that plate?

The Dawn was lovely though. I don't think it was too flashy, other than its size there are a lot of lowly cars that 'pretend' to be much more blingy.
Be interesting to see if anyone complains hehe

Look at Norman's walking stick, it's a prancing Jaguar!

Enjoyed that one too!

Quite like the way MLB comes across but in all honesty dont see CE any worse or less watchable.

Ok not everything was to my taist but overall liked it and have no doubt their will be plenty who prefered the bits I didn't to those I did, no big shock there we are all different.

Not put off by what CE wears, I wouldn't wear it but I am watching for the cars and not to pick it to pieces, but if thats your thing judging by some of the posts its keeping you happy too!

Is it true that the new Rolls uses Satnav information to select the right gear for the road ahead? Interesting.
The Audi A8 had that a couple of years ago.

Dump Evans and you've got a decent show I reckon.

Nice to see Norman Dewis on the show. The guy is rather a legend.

edit - I'm watching it delayed so just seeing Chris Evans showing off what cars he has again. That's why they need to dump him. Don't need to see him gloat.

Didn't mind the CH bit, constant jumping about in the seat excluded. Although I did notice they piped the RS3 exhaust noise over the M2 doing donuts at the end.

Don't have a TV, but just watched extra gear online. Had to mute when shouty twunt was on, but really enjoyed seeing Norman Dewis. I heard him speak at a club gathering a few years ago. Fresh from hospital having fractured his wrist, still in plaster, he gave a superb extended talk on testing the mK 10 and answered loads of questions afterwards. The club sec said he wasn't cheap, but he must of been worth many times his fee - a real legend!

Worth a watch for those who hadn't heard of Norman Dewis before tonight:

I think it was obvious CE had a respect for Norman Dewis on the main show, I suspect MLB had little idea who he was, either that or his script gave that impression. I quite like MLB input but dont see him as the presenter some do, either that or there hatred for CE is clouding there judgement, or maybe ....... whatever.

Why did they swap the plates on the Corniche (and surely it was a 77/78 not a 76?)

Just caught up on tonights. I thought that CE was only going to be in studio stuff for the rest of the series, and not on any films? confused

Jag film with Rory was good, yes it was staged at the end but hey ho. Harris in the M2 was a bit silly with the happy-o-meter, but his Youtube stuff is a bit silly too sometimes, the Audi comparison was similar to his youtube video comparing the Audi to the M135i. BMW is fun and good, Audi is understeery and bad. MLB's Dawn film part 1 was good, then the ginger one got involved with the Corniche which he just happens to own. Yes, we get it, you own cars.

Overall, in-between episode 3 and 4 for hows good it was 3 still being the best of the series so far.
