Overall thought it was a good episode, the Jag piece especially was good - ignoring the obvious scripting of the F-Type arriving in the nick of time, that Norman is a legend.
I liked the Dawn piece too before Evans turned it into another opinion poll, MLB's laid back style works quite well I think.
SIARXC I skipped although I did hear Paul Hollywood has a DBS and some racing license? Pretty cool.
Not Harris's best piece I must admit, the 'fun-o-meter' thing felt a little forced, but still, rather him have a segment than nothing at all.
Overall, not bad.

Show bit like the curate's egg.
Exec summary, once again all the worst parts involved Evans in one way or another.
Ok not an Evans hater, never really encountered him before, didn't listen to him on radio, didn't watch his TV efforts, largely ignored him, not deliberately, just how it was. So TG was essentially first exposure, determined to give him a fair trial, but have to say, with only one episode to go, dear BBC, please please please, bin him.
I have no idea if the stories about MLB saying he won't do season 2 if CE still involved are true or not, the press makes up so much bks, but if true there will only be one outcome imo. The BBC must thank its lucky stars every day that they got MLB on board, you can see the interaction and easy going chemistry with the public, or maybe it's just people's susceptibility to Hollywood stars. I don't know but he's got mileage on this show.
As has Rory, he's a keeper too, as is Chris Harris, though they definitely need to find a script style that works for CH. Tonight really didn't work, trying too hard.
So actual content. Zenos, sounds awful, looks crappy, maybe it was just me but wheels seemed to adopt some unusual cambers at times, almost tucking under? But then wasn't helped by being presented by the ginger one, and frankly, as pointed out by another poster, we learnt less about the Zenos in the whole segment than we learnt in 30 seconds of the Dawn.
Dawn first segment, excellent, really got it across, though the camera work at times was a bit iffy. Well the editing strictly, yes we know it has RR badges, need to be reminded do often, or the constantly vertical wheel hub badges. Bit poor really.
SIARXC, kill me now. And Evans you must be deaf too, the Alfa still got a bigger cheer than Hollywood's Aston.
The Jag to Geneva, fair enough clearly a publicity stunt hanging off the back of the original event. Clearly scripted and engineered but sfw frankly.
Glad to see the respect shown to Norman, clearly a character and enjoyed every second of that.
Finally the last RR bit, massaging CE ego over his own Corniche. Which gets us back to square one of this post, bin the tt.
Going to keep watching.

I didn't watch EP5 as I was elsewhere for supper.....
However, having read some of the comments here, & also browsing the press this morning, I'm not sure I'll bother with iPlayer either:

Ah yes, just remembered where I'd seen the Chris Harris "funometer" before.

I know the factual inaccuracy has been mentioned, but what possible reason could CE have for claiming his Corniche is older than it actually is? I judt don't see the point.
Unless he's just a pathalogicial liar who is unable to tell the truth.
Does seem odd, build date before registration date?Unless he's just a pathalogicial liar who is unable to tell the truth.
No expert on the cars how did people realise the dates thing?
The Silver Dawn segment was excellent until Evans turned up in part 2 and ruined it with his childish behaviour. Rory's Extra Gear piece on the Silver Dawn was also very good.
Mini-cross as dire as ever; Evans' interview style is dreadful - he doesn't listen to the 'guests' and cuts straight to something else when they've stopped talking. Very rude, but typical of the scruffy, talentless oik.
Chris Harris tried too hard in that Porsche in Extra Gear, hard to hear what he was saying at times. At least the news was interesting though. But the staged and rather pointless lightweight car race "Don't forget, folks, we weren't here" was again ruined by the ginger idiot.
Get rid of Evans and the programme would undoubtedly improve.
But I'll be buying a smart TV shortly, then trying out Amazon Prime when 'The Grand Tour' airs.

And if there is one thing we have seen over the past few months, is that the Sun is on some kind of vendetta against Top Gear and has written dozens of speculative pieces about how the whole show is falling apart. The other papers seem to then just lap it up
Reasonable effort but I agree with others; its just lacking something. It just seems a bit hollow, no real substance. Le Blanc is clearly the better of the presenters now I think. Harris too marmite, CE awful and Rory again just comes across as too light-weight.
Like last weeks episode (which I thought was better, especially the Vulcan piece) by the time I'd gotten past the star in a rally cross car I'd kind of tuned out and never really tuned back in again. I then watched one of the classic TG of old episodes....the one where they race to Oslo. I've seen it many times and I still sat at my dinner table and watched the whole thing.

And Chris Evans was wearing the same T-Shirt again! What's with the yellow T-shirt?
I think its for ease of continuity and proves he's a lazy bugger... but then, Mark Zuckerburg who made a few billion from Facebook wears the same thing every day too. When I went to filming, they did a few links for other episodes to fill in, so if he's always wearing the same thing, he won't muck the continuity up. Clearly though, MLB doesn't care so much as he changes.
Anyway - who really cares what they are wearing?
Middling episode for me. Aside from the fact Chris Evans was playing "Look at my car collection everybody!" again, I was irritated by him less than all the other episodes. The passion he had for the old Roller came across for the first time. I still don't think he's right for the whole show, but it was his best piece. My missus is a good judge of these things, as she's totally impartial and never usually watches it. "He's better when he's talking about his own car" she said. I hate his voice overs though, it's like he's trying to do a Clarkson impression.
MLB was great, on the other hand. Really dry, subtle humour. Doesn't get ruffled. Right at the end when he started saying how the passion CE has for the old Roller, and the patina etc, leading up to saying he'd changed his mind.....and then doing the opposite! Advantage of having an actual actor there, I'm guessing. It was a genuine LOL moment for me.
Reid's piece was a great story, even if it's been done a million times already. They had most of the drama there, but like others my only gripe with him is that he doesn't really hold my attention, or ingrain any new knowledge in my head. After watching old TG, I'd usually learned something, even if it was small and daft. He just witters on about how great the car is, regardless of what it is. Maybe he's in a honeymoon period?! I think he'll get much, much better though. Enjoyed Harris' piece, and I usually skip german car tests on TG - that's about the best thing I can say about it!
Again, my O/H is the best judge of these things. "They should just use MLB, and that Harris and Rory bloke, and drop all the others." I think she's right.
