It seems that they are starting to gel in parts. I feel Irvine and probably Sabine should go, or perhaps dump the daft 'Stig' character and use Sabine fully for that? Chris Harris seems a little more excitable on TV than in his videos, which I preferred to be honest, and Rory I quite like.

Overall shaky start, ok middle and decent ending. Definitely, for me, a case of green stuff emerging biggrin

I loved the point about the 911. It sums up everything I think about the ever increasing arms race with the various manufacturers.
Irvine?

Overall I have enjoyed this series after the poor start with episode one it has got gradually better. MLB is a very good host and should stay for the next series. I like Chris Harris, not sure about Rory Reid though. I've never seen him on Youtube and this was my first sight of him. Sabine seemed to be very underused and either she gets more air time in the next series or is dropped. Eddie Jordan I don't mind but again but as mentioned he just seemed to be used for the odd cameo appearances. Chris Evans should go and maybe get another presenter in to replace him. SIARPXC should be binned as it's had its time. Last night's episode was pretty good, probably the best one of the series.

Starting to gel, even CE was marginally less annoying.

Frankly Sabine should go, unfortunately it's the female element, but she is no Stig, unless she cuts out the showboating and whooping. Not a good enough presenter, unless odd segments, eg the old Ring pieces. (Stop sniggering you lot)

CH getting better, as is RR, both need another series, at least!

EJ, not miss him in the slightest.

Which leaves CE and MLB. Whilst I thought MLB came across quite well in his siarpc appearance in old TG, my initial thought was "Joey?" I was completely wrong. Essentially the Beeb needs to do whatever is necessary, within reason obviously, to keep MLB on board.

The three MLB, CH and RR look as if they could gel in time, whether they get to the level of the Last of the Summer Wine crew remains to be seen. On the last long jump challenge the two groups of three presenters was noticeable.

Although, she has told Rory she could make him pale, been Gingerist and was talking about fat Americans last night and the BBC has made no mention of this hideous racism every time she is on television. So they need to keep a German female on the show so they can get back to slope jokes without the hooha of it being said by a white, English male. wink

I've not watched the new series since episode 2 such was my disappointment that an opportunity had been missed in revamping the whole thing. I've watched every Extra Gear and it's been ok. I decided to watch the final episode and it's a vast improvement. MLB is far less wooden and could easily be the main host. Reid certainly has potential and Harris is far less robotic and seems to have something of a personality. CE is still all me me me,Jordan is irritating and SS just isn't a tv host. Get rid of the last 3 and TG could well become an excellent motoring programme but it'll never replace the old one going by IMDB rating of generally less than 3/10. It's no longer non PC and it's just a car show without any edge. The SIARPC if kept should revert back to the track as the RallyX circuit is a joke. If there's another series then it has to evolve into being more than a car show to maintain its prime viewing slot imgo.

I'm not anti BBC, rather the opposite but it has been interesting that each time she has been on she has said something that if said by others would have been leapt upon by key media and turned into a big issue to help sell advertising etc.

It's not that she has done anything remotely wrong but just highlights that the media (who eont have missed anything) have chosen to not create any stories as it simply wouldn't be commercially viable etc.

I recorded it and watched it later so won't be one of the 1.9m. I thought it was great telly, the 911R section was excellent as was the beautifully filmed Mustang section, I even enjoyed the NSK film even though I think it looks gopping. Overall lasts night episode was much better than the worse of the Clarkson era Top Gear so they are moving in the right direction IMHO.

Did they really edit in an eagle flying over the MG... banghead
I doubt they did. Pretty sure the piece was filmed near to Abingdon, the bird was a red kite and those things are everywhere round there! Entirely possible it just swooped under the drone that was filming at just the right moment.

Based on my own experience this season, I wonder how much of this is regular viewers not watching the show live because of being able to fast forward through the SIARPRC segment when it is recorded. The crew are settling down... I enjoyed the features last night, but there has always been one consistent observation shared by the majority on PH - a collective hate for the 'Star' segment. A new broom offered a great opportunity to put it down for good, but no, the inspired decision was made to double the time allotted, and throw in a stty bit of 'off roading".

Top Gear has potential, Evans is a lot less of a pain than at the start. I agree with the sentiments ref Sabine, but the rest are all good to watch (for the most part). Except for Eddie Jordan. Eddie Jordan needs to be removed from my screen ASAP!

That's me right there. Enjoying the show but SIARPC is just waaaay too long and pointless now to sit through the whole thing 'live'. I watch on Monday nights or half an hour behind on a Sunday now.

Maybe a bit harsh to add CE to the Celebrity Deadpool 2017 but it's got to be worth a shot!

Absolutely can't stand him. Other than that the final episode wasn't too bad. Still don't think it's on par with CHM's shows but better than it was at the beginning of this seasons episodes. Didn't bother watching the last segment as it was CE.

But much as it pains me, all these comments support Ginger's comments about numbers in respect of people watching TV in different ways today.

On the other hand, if anyone has ever watched Episodes, just imagining Merc's reaction to 1.6 million versus the Antiques "several expletives deleted" Roadshow and a talking dog.

PS Episodes is having one more season according to MLB.

more bad news for Chris Evans fans ?

< Top Gear presenter Chris Evans has come under the spotlight over historical sex abuse allegations and is reportedly facing a police investigation into the matter.

According an article published by Heat Street on Saturday, Evans is due to be spoken to “in the near future” by Metropolitan Police after a former colleague lodged a sexual offence claim against him.

The allegations first came to light in May, with various reports stating that the presenter had repeatedly exposed himself to the complainant and grabbed her breasts.

Despite the allegations, the BBC star presented his Radio 2 breakfast show as usual this morning.>

Has the way on which people watch TV changed that much in the year and a bit since the last series of Clarkson/May/Hammond Top Gear?

No but the big question is how much impact the football has had given that sport has to be watched live and TG can be iplayered etc.

I think that they will have seen a massive short term shift to iplayer due to it being summer and also there being a big sporting event running. It just means fewer people are in front of the TV on a Sunday evening for the usual reasons.

On top of that, there is no doubt that a significant number of 'old, white and angry' blokes will have switched off for good now there are non whites, Americans, gingers, women, people speaking in 'street' and almost no chance of seeing someone racially abuse a Chinaman or have a pop at lefty scum. biggrin

I'd say they have permanently lost a solid chunk of viewing figures due to the new line up being far too right on but the jury is out on what they have lost in live figures due to scheduling.
